Saving Celebi [14+]

Daiyu followed the group as Riz and Cobalt finally began to venture towards the outskirts of the village. Riz stopped and sat down, but Cobalt continued forward, sniffing for any possible dangers and then turning to see if they would follow. Daiyu followed him, and Riz stood up again to continue on. Noting that everybody seemed to be sniffing something, Daiyu followed suit and sniffed the air. Her sense of smell was pretty good, but her hearing was better.

"So…" Riz began, possibly to break the somewhat awkward silence as the hyperactive dog, Cobalt, sniffed out the jungle's path. "Daiyu. Have you been living in the village for long?"

Daiyu walked along in thought. "Um. Nah," she said simply, but she knew she ought to cooperate more. "I just came here about three months ago, I guess." She was curious to know how long Riz was at the village himself. Obviously way longer than her, though, but she was still curious. "How about you?"

The air felt even cooler than it had been before. Daiyu sure hoped it wouldn't begin raining while they were here in the jungle. From what she had heard, jungles had more extreme weather than some other places, like the village. Daiyu's ears suddenly twitched at a voice that said, "Can I help you?"

She quickly turned and noticed a white Spinda with black spots. And it… it had eyes? Every Spinda she had ever met was ditzy and had no visible eyes. Anyways, there was a Mightyena staring down the Spot Panda Pokémon. Daiyu just watched the strange Spinda. But then again, all the Pokémon who volunteered to help Celebi were strangely colored compared to their regular species. Maybe the fact that they were outcasts brought them together to take on this task. Although Daiyu didn't show it much, she was zealous about finding the legendaries.

"Need some help over there?" Daiyu called over with an unmannerly laugh.

Cobalt smelled a Spinda and another of his kind. That was odd. He looked up and saw Daiyu looking at them. He turned to look as well.
"Need some help over there?" Daiyu called out to the Spinda with an unmannerly laugh. Cobalt looked over at the pair. The Mightyena was staring down the Spinda.
"Hey! What's your problem?" Cobalt asked the Mightyena. This was not good. He didn't know whether to get involved or not if it came to a fight. But he felt he could take this Mightyena, especially with the fact that the others were there. The normally happy Cobalt just hated to see other pokemon being bullied. Even ones that smelled decidedly unfriendly, like that Spinda.

"To the south? Let's go!" Cobalt said. He put his nose in the air and began sniffing around for danger as he started walking. "Are you guys coming?" he asked while looking back. Nova stood up and walked after him with the others.

"Let me know if you pick up some... uh, any scent of a pokémon really," Riz said to the Mightyena. "Especially if you pick up the scent of a human."

Nova walked along quietly while the other three scented for danger. Unlike them, she wasn't worried about being attacked. There weren't many pokemon that posed a threat, or at least, that's the way she saw it.

"So..," Riz began as their group followed Cobalt through the murky vegetation. "Daiyu. Have you been living in the village for long?"

"Can I help you?" Nova's attention was drawn to the source of the voice and she saw a strange looking, black and white Spinda confronting a Mightyena, but this one wasn't Cobalt.

"Need some help over there?" Daiyu called with a laugh.

"Hey! What's your problem?" Cobalt asked the other Mightyena. Nova just stood and watched. She wasn't going to get involved unless she was needed.

Ambrose didn't get a response out of the Mightyena. In the time where someone who was asked a question and completely on their rocker would answer, Ambrose examined the mute Mightyena. It didn't have anything particularly special about it, looking like most Mightyena. It wasn't the spastic one from the group over yonder, that's for sure.

"Need some help over there?" cried a voice from the group. Not willing to take his gaze off this dog for a moment, Ambrose ignored it.

"Hey, what's your problem?!" another voice called. It was said with a growl in the tone, so it must've come from the Mightyena in the group.

Everyone stood still as silence paraded through the forest with its loud and awkward jibe. Oh dear me, we seem to be at a stand off.

"What, cat got your tongue or are you just too dull to remember you can communicate through words?" Ambrose firmly stated, being a mocking as possible. He crossed his arms.

"I- uh," started the Mightyena.

"Good Arceus above, you can talk. What a twist in our plot." Ambrose said sarcastically. He didn't like that this dog was holding up his progress just to mutter something that couldn't even pass for a sentence fragment.

"Hey, um, I was sent from the other Mightyena because you're coming too close to our grounds. We, uh, ask that you, you know, leave." The Mightyena obviously had fright in his voice. He must've just evolved and the much stronger leaders were sending the poor boy on errands, telling him to be menacing. The guy couldn't scare a Pichu.

"No." Ambrose replied sternly.

"W- What?" The Mightyena panicked. He didn't expect this reply. Usually people were afraid of him.

"You heard me, halfwit. No. I'm not going to go about a completely runabout route to 'respect' your 'owned territory.' Just because you all tinkled a circle on the ground doesn't make whatever in it yours, or give you the right to just approach creatures that are just passing through sorta near where it is. So bite me."

Ambrose pushed the Mightyena aside and continued walking, unknowing that the dog creature would actually take him up on his offer. Ambrose found himself being nearly punctured by every tooth in the Mightyena's mouth as it whipped its neck into the sky, and started shaking his head to use his teeth as knives on the small-scaled bear Pocket Monster.

When the black and white Spinda was bitten and lifted into the air, Cobalt reacted. He charged the other Mightyena, even though he was slightly smaller. He tackled the other dog, and all three of them fell to the ground. He got up first and bit the Mightyena in the head, causing him to drop the Spinda. Cobalt shoved the other Mightyena as hard as he could.

"Get out of here!" he snarled. He was glaring at the larger dog. He knew this Mightyena had just evolved, but then again, so had he. He wasn't sure he could win in a fight, but he wouldn't back down. He glanced at the Spinda

"You, get back!" Cobalt said. He hoped that the Spinda would listen to him. He didn't want him to get hurt. Cobalt turned back to the other Mightyena and glared at him, growling lowly. He didn't have a lot of experience trying to be intimidating, but he would try.

Ambrose stood up as if he was completely fine. Thankfully, didn't have any scars or mementos of this encounter except for maybe hidden bruises under his fur. He wasn't entirely sure what just happened to him because it went very fast, but he knew he was attacked and saved by the red scarf wearing Mightyena. Ambrose dusted himself off and barely made two steps before the friendlier of the two dogs shouted.

"You, get back!" he said.

Ha.

"I thank you for your help out of that unsavory situation, but I can deal with the rest, thanks." he said as he strolled past the red scarf baring Mightyena, to face the territorial dunce doggie. "Well, lovely job on your part, my friend. But it's time to rap this up." Ambrose said as he closed his eyes and stood completely still.

Before the violent Mightyena could react, Ambrose started to move in a little motion very rapidly. Teetering would be the best term to describe it. Everyone looked at his movements in awe and confusion.

Soon, everyone around Ambrose had fallen victim to his Teeter Dance. As they stumbled on themselves, Ambrose walked over the attacking Mightyena, so close that that he could fell his breath, and hit him hard with a dizzying punch.

The Mightyena fell on the ground, his belly rubbing against the rough dirt and his legs spread in all different directions. Ambrose turned back to see his company were still entranced. He sighed, annoyed. He started to snap his fingers quick in succession.

"Come on, come on, wake up."

"What, cat got your tongue or are you just too dull to remember you can communicate through words?" the Spinda said mockingly to the unknown Mightyena.

"I- uh," started the Mightyena.

"Good Arceus above, you can talk. What a twist in our plot." the Spinda said sarcastically.

"Hey, um, I was sent from the other Mightyena because you're coming too close to our grounds. We, uh, ask that you, you know, leave." The Mightyena's voice held fright in it.

"No," the Spinda replied.

"W- What?" The Mightyena said in a panicked voice. 'This is rather amusing,' Nova thought.

"You heard me, halfwit. No. I'm not going to go about a completely runabout route to 'respect' your 'owned territory.' Just because you all tinkled a circle on the ground doesn't make whatever in it yours, or give you the right to just approach creatures that are just passing through sorta near where it is. So bite me." When the Spinda pushed the Mightyena out of the way to walk by, the latter snapped its jaws down on the smaller pokemon and shook it like a toy.

Cobalt tackled the larger Mightyena and bit it in the head, causing it to drop the Spinda. "Get out of here!" he snarled than glanced at the Spinda. "You, get back!"

"I thank you for your help out of that unsavory situation, but I can deal with the rest, thanks," the Spinda said as he strolled past Cobalt to face the the other Mightyena. "Well, lovely job on your part, my friend. But it's time to rap this up." He closed his eyes and stood completely still than started teetering back and forth and at first Nova thought he was going to fall over, until she started feeling dizzy and confused.

Recognizing the move Teeter Dance, she forced herself to look down and focus on the ground, therefore saving herself from making herself look like a fool. When she was sure he was done she looked back up to see that the Mightyena had been knocked out. The Spinda turned back to them and sighed in an annoyed manner, snapping his fingers in quick succesion. "Come on, come on, wake up," he said sounding rather annoyed.

Nova looked at the unconscious Mightyena and frowned. It didn't seem right that it had been hurt just because of an order it's pack gave it. She shook her head and turned her head to look at her companions who seemed to be recovering from the effects of the Teeter Dance.

Ambrose looked around at the bunch of creatures trying to recover themselves from the daze of confusion. Ugh.... Ambrose couldn't just leave them here, let he be blamed for murder if the rest of the Mightyena troop came to rip them to bits. He had to stay until they snapped out of it.

Ambrose looked over the the Absol, who seemed, actually, pretty fine and was wielding a depressed face whilst looking at the defeated Mightyena. Intrigued, he had to ask the question.

"Hey, you." he said to the girl. "Why the upset demeanor?"

Cobalt came out of the confusion. His head hurt. He didn't like what had just happened, but it was his own fault for looking at the Spinda while it used Teeter Dance. He shook his head and glanced at the fainted Mightyena. He turned back to the Spinda.

"Wow, my head hurts. I'm glad you're ok! My name is Cobalt. What's yours?" he said to the Spinda. He sook his head again and walked over to the downed Mightyena. He sniffed him.

"This guys going to be alright, he just needs some time to rest. That's all," Cobalt said when he caught Nova's face. She looked really worried about him. Cobalt bounded back to the others.

"Hey, you. Why the upset demeanor?" Nova looked at the Spinda who had spoken to her.

"I just don't think it was really necessary to knock it out. It was just doing what it was told," she replied.

Cobalt, who had just snapped out of his daze and seemed rather excited, turned to the Spinda. "Wow, my head hurts. I'm glad you're ok! My name is Cobalt. What's yours?" Not waiting for an answer, he went over to the other Mightyena and sniffed it. "This guys going to be alright, he just needs some time to rest. That's all," he said before bounding back over.

"We should probably go before the rest of his pack finds us. A pack of angry Mightyena isn't something we want to have to deal with," Nova said calmly.

"I just don't think it was really necessary to knock it out. It was just doing what it was told," she said, almost criticizing the question.

Ambrose was interrupted from his reply by the joyous sound of the red-scarf Mightyena's voice.

"Wow, my head hurts. I'm glad you're ok! My name is Cobalt. What's yours?" he said to Ambrose as he walked over and sniffed the pounded pooch that lied on the ground unconscious.

"This guys going to be alright, he just needs some time to rest. That's all," the overgrown puppy said as he saw the same look of sadness caked on the Absol's face for the other Mightyena and backed off a little.

"We should probably go before the rest of his pack finds us. A pack of angry Mightyena isn't something we want to have to deal with," the Absol suggested rather calmly, diverging from interrogation.

Ambrose ignored her and turned to the Mightyena, or, "Cobalt," as he should be noted as.

"Well if that's your professional medical diagnosis, Cobalt, then I guess I have no place to argue with a dog named after a chemical element." Ambrose said, obviously wanting to catch the mutt off with the fact. "I didn't realize you doctors were so good you could prescribe an entire treatment regiment based of the smell a dirty dog gives off while it lays on the floor. Where did you study? I just know it was somewhere fancy."

Ambrose turned back the Absol. For a second, he didn't speak. He felt bad for some reason. Why? Oh, wait, I know.

"Sorry, sir." he started, seeming a little gleam of happiness start to develop to the Mightyena's eyes. "I forgot my name. Ambrose Flannigan."

The gleam shattered as fast as it was made. But at least Ambrose felt better now that the dog knew the name of his superior. Ambrose went back to the Absol.

"Exuse me, repeat that again?"

"If he was hurt badly, he would smell different. My nose doesn't lie! And how can someone forget their own name? Well, I guess it would be hard to remember if you had two. Why do you have two? And what is a doctor? And a chemical element?" Cobalt asked without missing a beat. He didn't feel inferior. In fact, the fact that he was being insulted went way over his head. He just was happy that he made a new friend, though he could smell that Ambrose Flannigan was a little annoyed. He walked in between Nova and Ambrose Flannigan and looked at both of them.
"Are you guys ok?" he asked. They were both trying to stare each other down, from what Cobalt could tell.

Daiyu watched the battle unfold, but could not remember what happened after seeing the Spinda dance. Daiyu's eyes became swirls, matching a regular Spinda's eyes. She twirled around senselessly, completely entranced.

"Come on, come one, wake up," the Spinda's voice echoed through Daiyu's ears, as well as a sound of snapping fingers. She continued to totter around, making it to the passed out Mightyena and tripping over it.

The Pikachu suddenly shouted, thinking she was being attacked or something. She released a thunderbolt that shocked the passed out dog and any other Pokémon in the vicinity.

Nova tuned out the around conversation her and kept an eye on the trees the Mightyena had emerged from in case its pack showed up. Ambrose Flannigan, as she had heard the Spinda call himself, said something to her. She gave him a blank look as she tuned back in. "I'm sorry, what was that?" she asked. Just as the words left her mouth, a thunderbolt from a certain pikachu hit her. As the pain wore off and leftover static crackled in he fur Nova glared at Daiyu and growled, "Watch it, will ya?" The Absol took a deep breath as an attempt to calm herself. Maybe she had been working on it for years, but she still had major anger issues. If this kept up she would have to leave to travel on her own. Every time she got mad she was putting her companions at risk and that wasn't something she wanted to do. Shaking herself, Nova got her fur to lay flat again. "We should probably get going," she said looking at Riz, who seemed to be the leader of their small group.

Cobalt was sniffing the air around him for any signs of the rest of the pack. He suddenly got hit from behind by a powerful Thunderbolt. Everything went black for a few moments. When he opened his eyes, he found he was on the ground. He stood up and stared at Daiyu, a little hurt.
"What was that for?" he asked sadly. That had hurt. He had never blacked out like that before, except that time that human had tried to catch him. But he had gotten away when he woke up. He looked at Riz the same as Nova when she said they should leave.

Amethyst ran into the jungle from the Village and not long after she saw a group of Pokemon crowded around an unconcious Mightyena. Going over to the group she noticed most of them seemed a little confused. "Everything okay here?" she asked wincing a little when the Pikachu shocked them all. Shaking her head a little the oddly colored Roselia looked at the group. "My name's Amethyst by the way but most people call me Ame. Are you guys helping Celebi?" she asked looking at all the Pokemon. The Absol and the Spinda both seemed to be a little annoyed, and the Mightyena that was conscious seemed a little sad after being shocked. "What happened to him?" she added gesturing with the pink flower that was her hand to the unconscious Pokemon.

"If he was hurt badly, he would smell different. My nose doesn't lie! And how can someone forget their own name? Well, I guess it would be hard to remember if you had two. Why do you have two? And what is a doctor? And a chemical element?" this Cobalt character answered like an interrogative news reporter.

The incessant questioning coming from the dog ticked Ambrose a bit. He couldn't have been more obviously sarcastic with his previous comment, and the entire subtext flew over the dog's head. Boy, Cobalt was dull.

"Well I'm so glad you're sure of yourself and your pain sensing nose," Ambrose said. "And to answer your questions in order, Humans have two names and I have the same. Just call me Ambrose. A doctor is like a healer or sorts. And a chemical element is something a little over someone of your caliber of intelligence to understand. Satisfied?"

Almost immediately after he finished his sentence, an electric shock pulsated through Ambrose's body. It came from the little Pikachu, having tripped over the fainted Mightyena. Ambrose became slightly furious because of the surprise, him having the clench his teeth to prevent himself from verbally abusing the little thing.

"Watch it, will ya?" The Absol spat at the electric mouse.

Thankfully, this Absol did it for him. Ambrose had to shake this off. They aren't worth my time or words.

"We should probably get going," the Absol said to the Raichu, who Ambrose almost forgot about at this point.

"Oh thank Arceus." He said finally walking away from the group, ignoring as a waddling flower monster discovered them and started talking to the group.

He stopped suddenly. Forgot one little message.

"Good luck not getting killed!" He shouted from afar as he continued to walk along.

"I don't get it," Cobalt said. A Roselia ran up and introduced herself.

"Everything okay here?" she asked. The oddly colored Roselia shook her head and looked at his new friends. "My name's Amethyst by the way but most people call me Ame. Are you guys helping Celebi?"

"That's right! I'm Cobalt! These are my friends; Nova the Absol, Daiyu the Pikachu, Riz the Raichu, and Ambrose Flannigan the Spinda! Nice to meet you! Are you trying to help Celebi too?" Cobalt said happily. He grinned at her. Ame seemed to be really nice!

"Good luck not getting killed!" Ambrose Flannigan shouted as he walked away.

"You're leaving? Good luck to you too!" Cobalt shouted after him.

Amethyst smiled at Cobalt as he introduced himself and the others. "It's nice to meet all of you" she said happily. "And yeah I'm helping Celebi. I'm heading southesst to try and find Rayquaza. How about you guys?" she asked.

"Good luck not getting killed!" Ambrose shouted as he walked away. Amethyst watched him and quickly was able to gather that he was not a 'people' person.

"You're leaving? Good luck to you too!" Cobalt yelled back which made Amethyst sigh.

"I can only guess that he had something to do with what happened to that unconscious Mightyena. Am I right?" she said before adding "He doesn't seem like he's a very nice person"

Ambrose continued walking down the path of leaves and dirt, gazing at the wooden titans creating pillars for the sky to rest on. The clouds were finally grey, preparing to drizzle on everything that dare remain prone to the elements. A small ripple of thunder echoed its warning message from the sky for all on the ground to hear.

Ambrose was lost in thought. "Perhaps I acted a bit ungrateful, but then again, I did say thanks. And it's not like that moron had any idea I was insulting him anyway."

The thunder began again. The rain was definitely coming. Should probably look for some type of resourceful umbrella substitute. He turned to his left and saw a fairly large and unharmed green leaf on the ground. That'll do.

He casually walked over the leaf and tugged it. It was stemmed into the ground. What kind of leaf is this? He kept tugging until it finally was ripped from its roots. Ambrose raised the leaf's body over his head and tried to make sure it would be able to keep there. It was fairly sturdy for some reason, it never acting flimsy. Perfect.

"That's a Barba leaf," said a small voice, obviously coming from a child. Ambrose, caught of guard, spun around and found a Poochyena wagging its tail back and forth. "My mommy grows those."

"Oh. Well they're quite strong." Ambrose said, trying to figure out just where this little kid came from.

"Well she tries really hard. She spends a lot of time in this garden."

….Garden? Ambrose saw leaves and a couple of plants trying to thrive on the muddy land. Wasn't really impressive. Wait. Garden implies there a home somewhere.

"Oh, I'm on your territory?" Ambrose dared to ask.

The Poochyena went to speak, but was interrupted by another, more authoritative and mature voice. "Yes, you are."

Ambrose saw a Mightyena enter next to the Poochyena, looking stern and merciless. Ambrose stared at the Mightyena. The dog obviously was plotting what to do with the small bear monster.

"Care to explain yourself?" The Mightyena asked.

"I was looking for-" Ambrose started to say.

"Just invading on our territory? Well. Thought so. And you know what rule we have on our territory?"

"Unfortunately I'm not familiar with your petty territorial rules."

"Well, if you were informed, you'd know that anything that's on our territory," The Mightyena said, pausing, "Is automatically ours."

Ambrose's eyes were stricken with annoyance. "Fine. There's no point in delaying this inevitable ending. Let's just get to battling." He started to put down his leaf.

The Mightyena worked quickly and snatched Ambrose with his jaws. Crap.

Ambrose found himself dangling in the Mightyena's mouth as he was carried farther into the territory. More and more of the canines were starting to appear, gawking at the catch of the day. Stupid dogs.

Ambrose was finally released from the Mightyena's mouth and fell a bit hard onto the ground below. Several Mightyena surrounded him, licking their lips and growling in temptation.

"Wow Doudge, you sure pick 'em good." Said one of them, obviously being illiterate.

Ambrose got up on his feet. Unfortunately, he would not be able to take on them all, so he needed a way to buy time and escape. Without another thought, Ambrose let out a loud screech that echoed through the air and made the Mightyena yelp in surprise and pain.

Thank Arceus for Uproar.
