i just got emerald and played for about 2 hours and saved like 7-8 times and then when i turn it off and wait for a while and start it up again it says "The save file has been erased due corruption or damage." "the game can be played" and my save is gone" :( anyone know how to fix it?? using nds

Hm, well an official game shouldn't have to say "this game can be played." Could you please answer a few questions for me?

    1. Where did you purchase this copy of Emerald?
    2. What does the cartridge look like? It should be a translucent bright green, with a sticker that says "Pokemon Emerald" and the sticker should have a little shimmer to it, and there should be a Nintendo Seal on it.

Also, I would normally lock this and tell you to ask in the Q&A thread, but I'll just leave it open and lock it when we've helped you figure out a solution.

It's possible you have a pirated copy of Emerald. I know because I used to have one. It's probably gray, rather than transparent green.

I got mine off Ebay about a month back. Its transparent green and all but it also has that "this game can be played."

At the main menu it says "The file has been loaded. This game can be played."

I had only one instance where I had a similar experience that the OP had. Game said "the save had been corrupted blah blah blah"

It was only one time and I thankfully had only about 10 mins clocked in. Games been working ever since fine though. On my 5 gym leader with no problems what so ever.

Anyway after that happened I was suspicious on whether or not It was a hacked game or something to that effect. Before I bought it I asked the seller if it was a hacked game and if the save worked and he assured me it wasn't and that it did. So I compared it to Leafgreens cartridge and the Lettering on the Title sticker is WAYY bigger than that of Leaf greens. Is that normal?

Pokemon Master Derrville, from the sounds of it you have a pirated copy. I have 2 copies of Emerald, one is pirated the other is legit, and the pirated one acts and looks exactly as you described. It can still hold a save and chances are if you've planted berries they wont grow.
Its worth noting that just because the box or cart has a picture of the "Nintendo Seal of Approval" on it does not mean it is authentic.

This video might be of some help for anyone thinking they might have a bootleg game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNsEpOnzjZY&feature=related

^^^ Its def a pirated Emerald. My berries havent grown at all. Walking around checking on them I thought it was odd but I just figured, sense Ive never played a gen 3 Hoenn game before, that thats just how it was. Like they just didnt grow as fast as Gen 4 games do.

Do you know if that means I cant transfer my pokemon to Heartgold or Diamond?

^I just tried to transfer my pokemon from my fake Emerald to Diamond but there was no Pal-Park option coming up as it usually would, so you probably cant sorry.

yea. i had 6 badges, and i felt like migrating. it didnt have the option. i then went back to emerald. 'The Save File has been Corrupted or Damaged. The game can be played.' and i had to restart :(
it says it on my HeartGold sometimes...
soo.....yea. yours is probably hacked, if it does that O_O

    Thanks...

Thats such a bummer.. one of the reasons Im playing this game is to eventually move the pokemon over to Heart Gold and then Black and White.

For the berries, you could try replacing the internal battery like in the gsc games. If that doesn't help, it's probably the fault of the clock crystal. Did the error message go anything like "the internal battery has run dry. The game can be played however clock based events will not occur."? If it did then replacing the internal battery should fix the berry problem.

Well, if the OP ever decides to come back, they've got their answer. Remember though, let's try to stick to using the Q&A thread for questions like these. I've been getting too lenient with letting these types of threads stay open.

    Locked.
