If Pokemon's going to be based on America from now on, doesn't that mean we should eventually be able to got to Lt. Surge's house, as long as Game Freak doesn't forget?...

EDIT: Then again, we never see any gym leader's house... still, you think they'd put it in because it would make sense?

I doubt they'll return to a character which is over a decade old, (well they might, but I doubt it). Plus lt. Surge was explicitly stated to have come from America whereas these regions aren't actually America.

I personally would love to see Lt. Surge again. He was so great in the anime, I loved him. And I wouldn't mind seeing his Raichu <3

I wouldn't rule anything out, and I think it would be cool to see Surge's place. I wonder what city he would be from?

If you recall, we did get to see Lorelei's house in FR/LG, so it is something that's (sort of) been done before.

He could have come from the electric typed gym.

Woah, wait, what? Unova may be based on an American place, but where was it confirmed that all or any future regions will be based on America?

Anyhoo, I think it'd be neat if they'd at least mention Lt. Surge, but I doubt they'll do it. It wouldn't really serve any purpose to just throw in a Gym Leader from four generations ago simply because he's "American".

As PKMNBlogger said, Pokemon's run out of Japanese prefectures. So, everyone thought they would start being based off of American states, & turns out, we were right. &, yeah, I agree with the 2nd thing.

We haven't run out of Japanese prefectures yet:
*pulls out Pokemon region composite map again* :\

There's a large swath of land available to the north of Kanto and Johto, as well as a smaller sidequest-sized chunk to the left of Johto. The usage of New York City, IIRC, is partially due to Junichi Masuda's engaging experience there, viewing all of the diversity presented before him as he toured there. AFAIK, neither Japan nor the United States have been ruled out as potential inspirations.

Anyway, more on-topic, seeing Lt. Surge's house in Unova would *kind of* make sense, due to Unova=part of America. Or, Game Freak could save his house for another U.S.-themed region. I kind of wish we could have avoided this "real-world references in games" thing, because technically Unova is entirely different from the United States of America. This is kind of similar to that thread discussing whether Mewtwo could be featured as well, due to him being seen cloaked, standing in a New York City-ish city in the movie Mewtwo Returns.

It would be cool if Lt. Surge and Mewtwo visited Unova to make cameos in Pokemon Gray Version, though, due to their (partial) affiliations with United States-related areas as depicted in various Pokemon media.

I doubt it, since the anime isn't exactly the same as the games, especially for such a small detail, which I think is even smaller than Lt. Surge, which is saying something... It would be nice, though, just like Lt. Surge.

Well, assuming it's meant to replace the corresponding real life location, Unova is a part of America, meaning that Surge's house could be in any of the regions connected to Unova. Would be interesting if the third version at least gave reference to him, though.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Lt. Surge make a cameo appearance later, maybe not this generation, but possibly another one based in the US. I think GameFreak enjoy making these connections when possible, look at the Team Rocket member from HGSS popping up in B/W. Granted, he's more recent character, but I wouldn't put it passed GameFreak to make another connection like this in the future.

Lt. surge was epic i hope he does come back. or maybe we'll get his younger niece or something like what they did with koga

Personally, I don't think Game Freak will ever make a region based off the U.S since there's too much unused space on the map fenyx4 put up, plus they must be running out of ideas for new pokemon/criminal organizations after 5 Generations O.O'

That's ignoring Unova in Black/White being influenced by/based on New York? =p Also the whole 'running out of ideas' thing has been thrown about since generation two and look at the series being as successful as ever. Game Freak will easily be able to pay someone else to come up with another set of ideas every few years I'm sure. =p
