Scheduled (sort of) maintenance

OK, that means I need to go to sleep around that time... thanks
EDIT: That means I don't from about what BeachBoy said.....

Good to see the message regarding it.

Off-topic: I know where you got that from xD

Heh... your sources may prove to be false unfortunately XD :P

As it was not an original source, or probably something you are in fact thinking of.

I actually got it from the omnipotent being that is the IRC (no not PC's channel).

Which reminds me, I really should visit PC's IRC channel more often.

To keep this on topic: Yay updates >.>

Small note, you got the dates wrong. XD Saturday is the fourth of July, not Friday.

inside info brought to you by Mika

no I didn't.. tonight (technically Friday morning) 7/3/2009 OR Friday night (technically Sat morning) 7/4/2009

OMG

LONG TESTS WERE LONG!

Sorry everyone, I didn't plan on this taking so long. It was suppose tobe an approx 4 hour downtime :(

Well, we're back for now.. next maintenance will be in about a week and shouldn't involve as much downtime.

It's good that we're back online. I didn't realise how much time I spent on PC until it wasn't there. You know, "you never miss the water till the well runs dry". I never really got that proverb, because you don't miss the water while it's still there, now do you? Anyway, I was refreshing the page every five minutes since yesterday morning, pretty much.

Arcanine and I just played Gears of War 2 the entire time. Ahaha, it was a good vacation.

Thanks for getting her back up Steve!

SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK! (Yell this out loud when read).

:P

Anyway good to hear there will be maintence XD

Offtopic (and @ Sinno): Diamonds Aren't Forever! I love that band...

Is the matinence over?

yes.. done and we have a totally clean bill of health.

the next maintenance will be to increase the database speeds.
It will involve disabling the Apache web server and the MySQL database server.. so you won't be able to visit PC then.. but it should only take a few hours and will happen in a much less busy time.

All in all, it'll be worth it as we enter into the busy summer time.. :)

Haha yeah. Yall have had a lot of traffic in the summer, is this whats causing the slower loading times and such? Or is it just DB Inefficiencies?

Is this people hours or "we're fixing the server it won't take long honest" hours? D;

LOL

Its real hours.. me logged into it, actually doing stuffs.. not some DC tech blindly running a test suite.

Its not the traffic per-say, its the frequency that the DB is accessed added to the Apache (and all other services running) accesses that are basically maxing out the drive.. we're gonna move the database to a separate drive from the other stuff so as to cut down those accesses gaining us a net speed increase and overall better performance.

Yay another maintence! This should speed up the server a bit. :)

Holy shizzle! This is the first timeI've been able to get on for four days! I was really annoyed as well - the summer holiday had just started and straight away, PC disappears XD

Sparkling Dragon really summed it up for me up there ^
