    Scriptwriter's Contest

    Hosts: Zeffy & Destiny Demon
    Staff Supervisor: Luke

    Introduction to the Contest
Hi all! :P Me and Zeffy are making a scriptwriting contest for ROM hackers. We both need your help to contribute to make it a success. :) So please give us any ideas you have. Alright, so I'll post my ideas here and add any you guys have. :)

    Plans on Judging
Alright, me and Zeffy could judge your script on these things:
    - Does it work?
If it works, you could earn points on that. Make sure it's not glitchy or anything, and that it can work fine.
    - Is it original?
Originality is nice. Especially in trigger events. Making it original requires stuff like; different kinds of scripting techniques in it. Like givepokemon, or applymovement.
    - How good is the script? How is its quality?
Is the script a good one? Does it show nice stuff in it? Some complicated scripting techniques you know and used?
    - Is there nice grammar?
That's the thing most people are bothered by. So nice grammar will give you a good chance.

    Some Further Planning
All right, I made an emblem you can check out in one of those sticky threads. =P I'm also planning on making another for the 3 winners. The first one is for everyone for joining, while the top 3 get an extra one for winning.

I also may want them to record a video on the script, to show us if it's working or not. That may work or not, depending on if they have a program or not.

Also I can do CSS myself--but it depends on if a person is good at it or not. Which I clearly am not. But I could try... =P But I'd rather have someone else though.

For now here's a draft I'll be posting. Note: Not Completed and may change when the Get-Together Events comes

    Introduction

Welcome everyone, to the Get-Together 2010's Scriptwriting Contest! We hope you enjoy this event! For ROM hackers, we have planned a scripting contest for you all. If you participate, at the end you will earn an emblem, and the top three will win a prestigious Winners Emblem (see the Emblems section). So, read the rules, join the contest and have fun! We hope you ROM hackers out there enjoy this as much as we do, and have fun scripting!

    [a id]rule[/a id]

    The Rules

    • No assembly (ASM) is allowed.
    • Scripts must be one-hundred per cent your creation. Don't use other's scripts!
    • You may only join one contest for each theme.
    • Don't give any rude feedback to anyone's script.

    [a id]date[/a id]

    Schedule

What'll be going on throughout this event:

    Pokémon Forever!

    • Make a script related to Pokémon! It could have a givepokemon command in it, or maybe a script of Arceus, taking over the world, wildbattle and specials inclusive! Let your imagination go wild! As long as it's related to Pokémon, it could be anything and everything!

    The Quest!

    • Write a script about a quest. "Get me five oran berries!" or "Catch a special Eevee and trade with me!" are great examples. The requirements are simple - the player needs to go away from the script, do something, and come back, giving a reward to them. There are many variables, such as different types of Pokémon or items. For items that have to be included through means of exterior work (i.e a new item), please put a note (using // next to the command) to clearly indicate this.

    I Challenge You!

    • We challenge you to make a trainerbattle script. BUT, we want to make sure it isn't easy to make. Add some applymovement, or maybe playsong. Maybe it's a rival script, or a boss battle. It can have anything but make sure there's a trainer battle in it! Use all your imagination that you have for this.

    The Ultimate Triggers!

    • For the last event, we want you to make a trigger event! This script should be your ultimate one, and I hope you all try your best on it! It can be about everything you want! It could have tons of combos of different scripting techniques, just make sure there's no ASM. =P

ASM will not be allowed all-throughout. Using ASM is pretty much an advantage as you can almost do anything with it. :/

I have a few ideas off my sleeves, but as long as we haven't got a supervisor I can't even tell if this event will be held. :(

Would ASM count? Or only XSE, and such scripting?
    Your answer;

Yeah, a staff supervisor will be needed if this event will be held.

Well, good luck. I have seen a few mods that are into hacking, but aren't mods of that section. Go look around. There are a few, but I can't name any immediately off the top of my head. :\
I found an S-Mod, Luke that's a hacker. But I dunno though if he'll accept.

Well, you never know. I might have a mod for my contest, but I haven't gotten any input on anything I should do yet. :'( I would enter if I knew anything more on scripting, but I know the bare basics. Like signs, talking scripts, and I'm learning givepokemon. Not going too well.
Luke accepted.:) And scripting I think is the best thing a hack should have. X]

Right, so I was thinking there should be a theme. Like "Pokémon", where scripters would submit entries relating to "Pokémon". It could be a givepokemon script, or anything that relates with "Pokémon" creatures.

As for the prizes, I think an emblem will do.
An emblem has to be 80x80. =P I'm not good at art. LOL.

Oh and a theme is good also. I was thinking a trigger event script. =P Or we could make a theme for each day.

    ~Update~ Anyways, I created a CSS at the top post. Not the best, and I'm not finished yet, so yeah. Also, here are the emblems;

Zeffy, give you opinion on this. We could change them if you wish...

Well, I could handle the emblem graphics. Here's one for the participants!

    You wrote and you joined!

Description: Thanks for participating in the Scriptwriting contest!

I could also handle CSS, not quite well but professional looking if I must say. ^_^
Oh and by the way, I'm going to ask Spherical Ice to help us judge the scripts.

Oh yeah I heard that he wanted to judge ^_^ And that looks way better than mines. LOL. I'll finish the CSS and you can see if you could change it. xP You can post the participant one in that stickied thread, and could you make one for the top 3 winners?

So yeah, I created ones for the Top 3. ^_^
Oh and could you delete the one you posted in the Prize Vault, I have the names and descriptions ready for these. '^'

Oh you do? Alright then, =P
And I'm getting more good at this CSS stuff (thankfully), so by the end of today I should be just about finished. ;_; 2 MORE DAYS! :O
I deleted the post, so you can post all four of those emblems you created there.
EDIT: Look at the CSS post. (: Do you think there should be changes in anything on there?

^ Basically my opinion of how the thread design could be, another theme idea, and some description ideas for the emblems. Also, I know the text next to the emblems needs padding. I can't get it to work.

@Spherical Ice xD Nicer than mine. Zeffy said you're a judge, correct?

Also, I think for the final fourth theme there should be something like: Imagination's Awesome!
It could be like they do whatever script they want to do^^

Also, I added some more themes. Tell be your feedback. And if I should change it.
