    My afternoon bus driver makes the girls sit up front, and the boys sit in the back. I sat in the front and she told me to get in the back, and I told her no, there was no room, and she told me to get my butt up and sit in the back. She was like, it's called respect or something like that, and I said, it's called segregation. She went on to say how that's not what segregation is and she studied it in college and she wants to see me write a 50 page essay on segregation. Can't segregation be based on gender/ sex?

    Segregation is used more on racial discrimination terms. For example, back in the late 1800s all the way into the 1940s and 50s, African Americans were separated into certain neighborhoods from the white people--just as a generalization. Although, segregation is considered a separation of a specific group, ethnicity or race, etc. What this bus driver is pulling is another Rosa Parks case...O_o This falls under the civil rights law (I just did a term paper on Martin Luther King, Jr. about this--you caught me at the right time!) and it seems to me she's being very sexist if anything. She's probably a feminist if she favors the girls more than the boys. It doesn't sound right to me...

    she is exactly right aegragation is more about racism

    but the bus driver to me seems to be a feminist liek she said......darn why am i always late to these subjects :( lol

    unless she is trying to keep you from doing things with girls and....well you get the picture

    sounds like my christian school teacher

    :paranoid: she is probly watching me right now lol she was a strict lady :D

    It's not segragation if it's her rule you HAVE to follow it it's crappy but oh well.

    Like the other people said, this isn't technically segregation, mainly because it's not racial and it's not done with malicious intent (or is it?) Your bus driver's just paranoid...is it possible that you could switch to a different bus so you don't have to mess with her anymore? She doesn't seem like a very reasonable person.

    50 page essay? Who does she think she is? Like she thinks anyone could ever do that -.- When I was in 6th grade, there was this cop who came in to tell my class about the dangers of drugs, and he had this little lion doll that he would pass around the room, and when he saw me with it, he screamed at me because I was holding it by its mane and told me he wanted a 3-page report on child abuse from me...instead he got a scathing letter from my parents ;P That taught him to ever try and go off the deep end at me ever again...

    Um right...Maybe she just thinks that the kids will get a lil' hankypany(that is so white trash) if they sit together.

    Seems that a lot of people these days are sexist, even bus drivers. A lot of the teachers in my middle school are sexist, if the teacher is a female she will be nicer to the girls when they do something bad then the boys, and if the teacher is male then he'll be nicer to the guys. >.> It is true that if it is her bus then she makes most of the rules, but if it goes too far then you could tell the principal about this.

    It is known as sexism, not segregation.

    Yea, this isn't really segregation, more like sexism to me. That's just how some people are. If it were me, I would not have budged an inch. I stand up for what I believe in to the end. You can sit wherever you feel like, no bus driver can make you do anything you don't want to do

    Depends on if it's a private bus, I guess. I don't see how she can really force you to do that paper, but I've never ridden on a bus so eh. ._.;
    Ahh it sounds a bit unfair, especially if you haven't been having problems with the kids doing questionable things. Especially in your case where there was no room.
    Ahh I don't know what I'm talking about. ._.;;;

    Not Segregation, It's Sexism... >_>... It's really unfair... also...

    segregation: the separation of one supposedly lesser group from a supposedly greater group.

    technically, Nick's example was segregation, but it was Sexual (Genderal?) Segregation as opposed to the racial segregation that we are all used to hearing about. His bus driver is a sexist bizznatch.

    Wouldn't that imply that the front is better than the back? Or if the females could sit in the back since they're better? o.o;

    today: i was sitting in the middle, minding y business. she told me to get up sit with with this other boy because she said some girl said I was harrassing them. I never harass anybody. It is chaos. Then when she turned around some kids said something rude and she thought it was me, and she said I look guilty, and I told her she looked guilty and she told me to shut up and school transportation is a privelege. I told her i was gonna tell my mom'

    Segragate is a Greek Word that comes from Segros, which means to seperate. It can be based on Any Seperation. Seperation of Gender or Sex, Seperation of Color or Attitude.. anything.

    Yep...this proves it...she's a crazy man-hater. Tell your mom like you planned...you'll likely be able to change things as long as your schoolboard doesn't see "segragation against men" as an oxymoron (as some people do :\ ) Good luck getting things they way you want them to be.

    My BusDriver was like that... But I didn't get busted. Yay!
