Serena's return

She did already, and she probably never will again. We're in a new era of the anime with a whole entire new cast of characters. Us seeing the old ones again is very unlikely now.
 
It depends on what the main character in Horizons does. She could make a return some time in the distant future, but I agree that it will probably never happen again. The best chance for her to return would be the newest movie that is speculated to be happening in the future and if it follows Ash or not.

But I wouldn't get hopes up at all. I haven't watched Horizons yet, but it does seem like no character in the past will ever make a return.
