So, I heard of instacheck so you could find your trainer shiny value for pokemon x and y. I tried to do it myself and couldn't get it to work on my computer. Apparently, my network card is out of date. If anyone could help me find my shiny value using instacheck, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Ohh. Darn Nintendo D: I just want a shiny...*crys*

In earlier Pokémon games, I would have agreed with you but come on man, Shinies pop out of the grass faster than Zubat pop into view when you enter a cave! I doubled my shiny captures since playing X and Y!

Not for everyone. There have been people playing since release day to as of yet not run into a single shiny Pokemon. I've got about 400 hours and have only run into 2 shinies myself and I actively hunt for them. I've actually seen more shinies in Pokemon Black 2 than I have in pokemon Y and in less time.

They are rare as hell. Until this gen I never found a shiny, even in the FC they are rare. I have been searching for week now, nothing.

Meh, I never cared much for shiny values ever since I read about them. I never bothered to download Instacheck in the first place because I'm still confused on how it worked. That, and I've caught/hatched 5 shinies without even trying during my X playthrough.

Personally im glad the Instacheck is gone. It was too much of a Cop-out way of getting a shiny.
Working for that shiny is way more for filling.

I agree. Being able to check your shiny value and get a shiny almost instantly was such a cheat. It really destroyed the value of finding a shiny or breeding one on your own. Sure GameFreak has designed methods to make getting shinies easier (chaining, mesuda method, etc.), but they don't come without their challenges.

I do think it would be more fulfilling getting it the hard way. I just tried for a week for a shiny Eevee with 300+eggs and I've been using the pokeradar, chain fishing, and even friend safari for hours on end and nothing. I've yet to encounter any shiny and I see people with 20+ shinies and people only wanna trade shiny for shiny. I'm just feeling a bit discouraged. :-/

With the new patch, I'm sure a lot less people will be getting shinies so easily now without having to put some effort and work for it. It all boils down to luck and patience.

You just have terrible luck. lol

    I do too now. =.=

I got about 20 shinies in my first 250 hours. And now I'm actually searching for them and can't find anything. =.=

    At 280 hours now. lol

P.S. All of my shinies back then came from the Friend Safari. I'm using Masuda method now. It worked for me for Charmander and Squirtle... but I'm having the worst luck with Bulbasaur. That said, if anyone has a shiny chloro Bulbasaur and wants like 3-4 friend safari shinies. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Well I'm at only 60 hours so I just need to be more patient. But it is hard, maybe one day I'll get a shiny, ONE DAY! lol.

I completely agree with this statement. I believe shiny's are more valuable because they require a bit more effort and time to get. If everyone was able to instantly get one, they wouldn't be as rare therefore making them less valuable.

I understand they're really challenging to find, but doesn't it make it that more special knowing you put time and effort into getting one? Maybe its just me :3c
