Shojo Vs Shouen

    Shoujo Vs Shounen

    He..he...I've been waiting to post this topic:


    Ok, so my peoples, what's your choice of anime? (or manga)

    Shojo is for little kids
    While I beg to differ on my own opinion right there, a lot of Shojo
    is for kids, little kids.
    I.e: Hello Kitty, Card Captor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew, Ojamajo Do Re Mi
    I can't name one Shojo that is inended for a crowd above 13+
    13+ shojos: Di Gi Charat, Azumanga Daioh (that's all I can think of)
    Shouen attracts a lot of ages, and it can be categorized like this:
    Sheer violence: Um.....Naruto?? (I don't know)
    Sheer Fanservice: Puni Puni Poemi, Chobits, Love Hina
    Male-attracting plot: A.i Love You, Pocket Monsters, Digimon
    Sheer Smut: {insert some adult-only show here}
    Shouen sells waaaay better than Shojo:
    I mean, What could sell better than violence & Smut?
    BTW: My series, Tokyo Hime is Shouen. It's really...erm....not Little childrenish

    My choice is Shouen, Why? I'm a huuuuuuge Shouen Fan, A majority of Anime I love is shouen,
    Sure, I lovd Shojo just as much:
    CCS, TMM, Di Gi Charat, ODoremi, Sailor Moon, Azumanga Daioh

    But:
    Love Hina, Exel Saga, Tokyo Hime, Chobits, Puni Puni Poemi, Pocket Monsters, Digimon


    (yes, I like Puni Puni Poemi, so sue me. sure, it's not for children, but I don't really give a flip, it's....ON KRAWK! *watches trailer and listrens to Poemi dentsu Poi*Poemi is soo....um..ahem)

    (of course i love my cute lil' ol series, Tokyo Hime)

    Yea, but it was intended for children....Remember, the Japanese children are a tad more mnature than ours, except me, Look at my Avitatr!!

    This goes in Other Anime and Manga. ^_^; *moves*

    Anyway, I really have no preference. I'll read (or watch) either one, as long as the plot or characters appeal to me. o_O

    And btw, it's shounen... with the "n" in there. ^_^;
     
    Well, it really doesn't matter to me. I like shoujo because most of it does not have anything bad in it, from what I've seen. Shounen is aimed towards an older audience, I guess, and it tends to have more... mature stuff in it. o_o

    Tokyo Mew Mew is shoujo, apparently, and it's my second favorite Anime! There's no cursing in it, nothing bad, and it's all at a level that I enjoy and understand. It's more for girls my age; it's not just for little kids. There's romance, humor, and action all in one.

    Pokemon, on the other hand, is shounen, I guess, but it's my favorite Anime! I really like it - When there's a lot of bad stuff in a show, then it just takes away all of the enjoyment of watching it. Atleast, that's my opinion.
     
    I guess I would say I'm a little more into Shounen animes than Shoujo, I mean I watch Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh and FullMetal Alchemist (*I guess both Pokemon and Digimon would fall into that catogary too?*) while currnetly my only fav Shoujo anime is Fruits Basket XD
    So yes definintly prefer the Shounen Animes ^^
     
    Wow...this is lose lose for me...if I pick either one i'll look like a perv wont I ^ ^;;....so i'll lean towards soujo-ai.
     
    Blah, I have no preference. Though I think most or all my favs are shounen. Hmm.. RK.. yes... InuYasha.. yes... Yu Yu Hakusho.. yes... Yu-Gi-Oh.. yes... Pokemon.. yeah....

    Yeah I guess I'm more of a shounen person, but I do like a lot of Shoujo... just not my absolute favs..
     
    Mrr... not all shounen is aimed toward older "perverted" audiences. People are talking as though it is. A lot of it is actually completely harmless. =\

    And Cardcaptor Sakura isn't shoujo-ai.... o_O;; It's got hints of both that and shounen-ai, but it doesn't *show* anything. You can play naive and decide that Tomoyo is just a really good friend who happens to like videotaping her while catching cards and doing cool stuff. (No matter what way I tried to put that, it seemed like how Kairi stalks me. XD;;;) Everything could simply be taken as friendship. =\ But you find a lot of that in shoujo anime, from what I've seen.

    I'd probably watch most stuff as long as it's got a decent plot or characters, like I said, so it wouldn't matter to me if there was shoujo/shounen-ai. (It'd probably be a plus, actually, rofl.)
