    If you must, get a Wii.
    But, be aware! The vast majority of your games will be either Mario or Zelda, as they are the only games that consistently don't seem to be shovelware on the wii.

    Personally, I'd get some PS3 games immediately after getting the Wii(cause they release some awesome games on Wii shop) since the good/crap ratio seems to be significantly higher on the PS3, but only because it takes a lot of money to produce games on it.

    I don't need to say anymore.

    I take your Metroid and raise it to Wii awesomeness.

    I'd get a Wii, due to the backwards compatibility and the larger game library available for it (Virtual Console + WiiWare + Standard Wii titles + GameCube... need I go on? But if you're strapped for cash, then get a GC.

    Yes, but you can get MP 1 and 2 for, like, 20 bucks, max.

    The third one will cost more, unless you like playing it better on the Wii.

    Depends on how much you're willing to spend. If you have the money, then get the Wii. You'll be able to play Wii games, plus some Virtual Console, WiiWare, & GCN games. All you have to do is get a GCN controller & a memory card to save your games as well as some games & you're set.

    Though if you're strapped for moneys, you can just get the GCN since it'd be cheap.

    If you can afford the Wii then I'd advise that since you can play both wii/GC games on it. However if our budget only extends to the GameCube... then without a doubt get it. I still play mine more than my Xbox 360.

    If you just want to play Gamecube games, I think you should get a Gamecube. There are sooo many great games to it, and if you find a cheap one it's even better. You won't regret it!
    I also recommend chipping it (all games get much cheaper that way :P) , I actually did it a month ago. :)

    To encourage you a bit more to buy a Gamecube, here are some great games I love:
    * Super Smash Bros Melee
    * Metroid Prime
    * The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker
    * Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness
    * Mario Party 6
    * The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
    * Spyro: A Hero's Tail
    * Super Mario Sunshine
    * Mario Kart: Double Dash

    Those are actually the only games Ive bought, the only ones worth buying. ^^

    Seeing as the Gamecube is the greatest system ever. Go for it. Get it. Now.

    or you could get a wii, cause that is also awesome.

    Best GC games:

    LoZ: Wind Waker (One of the best games ever...EVER)
    LoZ: Twilight Princess
    Timesplitters 2/3 (Best shooters ever)
    Super Mario Sunshine
    SSBM
    Fire Emblem 9: Path of Radiance
    Skies of Arcadia
    Metroid Prime
    Prime 2: Echoes
    Resi
    Resi2
    Resi3
    Resi4
    MK: Double Dash
    Billy Hatcher
    Pikmin
    Pikmin 2
    Cel Damage
    Viewtiful Joe
    Viewtiful Joe 2
    Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble
    Eternal Darkness
    MGS: Twin Snakes

    See?

    There's so much more aswell.

    The only drawback to a Gamecube is that alot of the good games can be pretty expensive nowadays..
