I think Nintendo should keep them alive. They're definitely a holdover from the Wii era; but they still serve their purpose of being stylized avatars for games that require them. Every replacement Nintendo's come up with (eg: what they did with Nintendo Switch Sports) comes off as far more lifeless and sterile than the Mii's, which I felt had a near-perfect balance of realism and style. There's no need to fix what isn't broken.

Nintendo could definitely continue to support Miis, but perhaps in an evolved or more specialized form.

I don't see any real reason to axe them. They're a fun little way to give give users a custom avatar.

This, absolutely. What reason is there to get rid of them? They've been around for so long and even been included in games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. I think I'd only see them get removed if they were just replaced by something more in-depth, I think of the characters from Nintendo Switch Sports as kind of an example of that idea.

I personally think that if people like certain features and the company is not willing to support it, people should be capable of finding ways to keep them around.
The problem with this is that tech companies like to be very protective, often abusing copyright laws or other kind of lawfare to get their way.

I'd even say shutting down internet services for certain consoles that were still capable of functioning without giving the people the tools to keep the internet functions for the games online is kind of a jerk move that consoles get away with largely because of the walled gardens they've built for themselves.

This a bad idea though, as the sports mates are too generic to replace the miis in any capacity plus they're not popular. The miis are not only to customize "you" into the games, you can customize other family members, friends, famous people, and or even your favorite fictional characters like user rock Salazar mentioned. I even tried creating the entirety of gym leaders, E4 members and champions out of miis with hit or miss accuracy, but remembered there was a 100 mii creation limit, I know super cringe on my end.

Absolutely I agree with this, I don't think those characters would be a good replacement if they actually did that, they're just the closest thing we've had that I could think of.
