PLA had a fairly different battling system from the mainline games, with each move being able to be used in "strong" or "agile" style, with the former dealing more damage / decreasing speed, and the latter dealing less damage / increasing speed. Held items and abilities were also cut like in LGPE. Should Z-A keep this simplified battling system, or should it bring back to the regular system / do its own thing?

I personally hope Z-A brings back the regular battling system from the mainline games; while the strong / agile styles were an intriguing idea, I didn't think they were executed particularly well, and removing abilities / held items eliminates a ton of depth from battles. The system from the mainline games has been gradually refined over 25+ years, and imo it gives players a lot more room to play how they prefer compared to the limited options in PLA's systems. I understand PLA and likely Z-A as well are more focused on catching Pokemon rather than battling, but if the old system isn't broken, why fix it? Porting the mainline system over wouldn't detract from exploring, and would allow for more compelling, strategic battles.
