Shouting out attack names. Cool or lame?

I think it depends on how it's handled, a badass is a badass and a dork is a dork in anime. In One Piece, it gets ridiculous how Luffy yells "Now gum gum X now gum gum Y! Now gum gum x again!" rapidly in a fight, but Zoro, now he pulls that off much better. Could be the voice, the move's names, the move itself, but it just looks and sounds better for certain people.

Now doing it every time though... even if you're cool, that can get old fast. And it ruins the believability for me, because what serious fighter announces what move he's about to do to his opponent? That seems like a no no.

Bleach and Dragon Ball handle it well. The attack name is either explained or just shouted out for the end. However in series like Naruto, One Piece, and Fairy Tail, attack names can be heard within every 4 moves lol.

For me, that would depend on what anime it is, generally, but in most cases, I find shouting attack names to be pretty cool. They help add to the intensity; if fight scenes were simply silent, they wouldn't be as entertaining.

I think shouting names is lame and impractical. I mean, there are some cool move names out there, and some of them sound pretty damn awesome to shout to the sky, but then there's people with some phrase-long attack names (Fire Dragon's Secret Arts; Hidden Lotus; Exploding Flame Blade) and I wonder, How the hell can you get all that out without the villain blowing your brains out halfway through? At least save the name for when you kick whoever's butt.

Amakakeru Ryu No Hirameki immediately comes to mind with long attack names lol.

But I guess sometimes it is cool. If Luffy were to just let out a battle cry when he landed the final attack on Caesar Clown instead of shouting "Grizzly Magnum" it probably wouldn't sound as intense.

To me, it's really silly and kind of pointless. I see how it can be viewed as cool though.
