[/B]Satoshi Taijri has never been involved in the anime. He is given "Created by" or "Inspired by" or a similar type of credit. Similar to how Stan Lee is an Executive Producer on almost any Spider-Man television show but is rarely involved.
Try again.
Personally, I feel he shouldn't recieve the credit of having "created" the Anime (I mean, if he barely had any major influence in regards to the Anime, why credit him to having created it? I mean, "created by" implies that the person in question had direct involvement in making the Anime the way it is, and IS the Anime, not to mention.)
Well, the movies are debatable at best as to where or if they fall into continuity (with the exception being #1).
But yes, Ash, the main character of the show, saves the world in the movies...you know, similar to how any Pokemon game ever made has something similar.
Technically, Ash didn't save the world in Movie 6 (he had a back seat role for that. Actually, I think that was the only movie where Ash was truly nothing more than a Minor character. I mean, it was Max and Jirachi who kinda saved the day.).
As for debatability of the Movie's canonicity, the same debatability applies to all of the episodes.
Overconfidence, a reluctance to accept change especially in how he trains and battles, reluctance to accept help and ask for help.
Don't get me wrong. These aren't deep flaws that make Ash a character as interesting as Huck Finn, but it's a kid's show so the standard is a bit lower.
You know, Disney was able to make deep characterizations of characters in their movies. Heck, SATam was also able to make deeper characterizations of their characters. Just because it's a "simple kids show" doesn't mean that they CAN'T have deep characters.
The first episode is entirely about him starting his journey. The show is all about him. Without him, there is no show. That doesn't mean Pokemon couldn't exist as an anime, but Pokemon as an anime couldn't exist as it does now without Ash.
Actually, the entire Anime wouldn't even exist without the Original Main Cast (Misty, Brock, etc.). In fact
It also doesn't help that Pokemon Chronicles wasn't a huge smash hit.
That was mainly because Chronicles wasn't even given the chance to air until several years after they aired. Even then, Kids WB didn't even give the show a chance to air (as that was the only major channel that aired Pokemon at that time.).
[/B]The show has been around for over a decade and has no end in site. What is this about the show needing to worry about how long it has to last?
Uhh, let's see, there's the fact that the Show's ratings are currently at 5.5%, at the very least, and possibly even less now. I mean, most people, if their show was down at that level, would panic. I mean, take... that "Waynes World" parody, "Matt after Dinner", subplot in the "Lizzie McGuire" episode: "In Miranda we do not trust", Matt was making a comedy show, but it was getting bad ratings (so bad, apparantly, that the mere sight of one blip of a digitalized United States Map turning off (the viewer blip) causes Matt and Lenny to panic.). In fact, it wasn't until his Dad (albeit unintentionally on both sides) made a fool out of himself on camera did the ratings actually soar.
I also can't believe that the show has deteriorated in quality. It's always had a lot of blandness from Day One. Many of the fans who wax nostalgic on Kanto and Orange are jut not viewing them objectively. Certainly if it's improved is a matter of opinion, but I've actually watched Kanto recently. There's no way I'll believe that that's the gold standar that the anime should live up to.
Well, actually, Kanto and OI were all right. I'm not going to say it's the most superb of all seasons (though then again, it's technically fact, going by Ratings in both Japan and the US, at least.). And, yes, the Show did indeed deteriorate in quality, especially with the switching of the females. Even BEFORE Masamitsu Hidaka confirmed that the reason why he only replaced Misty after Johto and kept Ash and Brock was for something very sexist like "eyecandy, boytoy purposes", I had known, or at least highly suspected, that the real reason why the Writers replaced Misty was for chauvinistic reasons (If it was truly for advertizement/freshness factors, they would have, if not completely replaced the main cast, then at least replaced Brock.)
[/B]That doesn't contradict it being in the top 10 animes in Japan. Got anything more recent than 2006?
Actually, it's barely even in the top 10 now (and if the show continues even further with Ash, or just continues in it's current direction, period, we might as well kiss it's position in the top 10 goodbye.). Heck, Nickstr also did some research and found out that the show's sinking like a brick, not just in quality, but also in ratings.
Not having an irrational hatred of Ash doesn't make me a fanboy. It's just that I see Pokemn for what it is, a relatrively simple kids show that's main purpose is to promote the franchise. And based on that, I enjoy it.
Yeah, though it's too bad that the new kids aren't replacing the old kids in the same numbers (seeing how, if the replacement of fanbases was actually true, Hoenn and Sinnoh would have still been at the 11.1%, or at least 8.8%, and NOT sink as low as 5.5% at the very least.
As for "most of us are sick of Ash", it's simply because either you never liked the anime, or grew out of it or Pokemon as a whole. simply put, the 50 fans who boycott because of the voice changing cast, or the nostalgia fans hoping for things to "Get better" are irrelevant to the show.
But people who whine and moan about it fall into two categories:
Nostalgia fans who swear it used to be better; and people who want to turn the anime into their own personal fan fic.
You know, some people might want to change the show so it could benefit the world. I mean, take my trying to bring Misty back, for example. I don't desire for her to return so I could continue Pokeshipping Fanfics (heck, I don't even believe in any shippings on the show, much less Pokeshipping), Nor am I trying to be nostalgic about Season 1 (Heck, I can admit that there are flaws in season 1.). I just want her to return so we can have at least one pokemon female character not act like a FAS, and not be a byproduct of a common stereotype on girls.
