I think I understand what you mean...
Here's what you need to do:

-Press CTRL+A to select all.
-Go to Select -> Contract -> 1 pixel

The next step would be Select -> Inverse, but that's mentioned in the tutorial.

I CTRL+A to select all, but then it won't let me contract at all. It will let me contract if I select a portion of my image, but not all of it. Here's a screenshot. I feel so stupid having to do this :(. You can boot me out if you want to, Hazuki. XDD...
But really, I'm not joking; If you think I'm not at "that level" you can kick meh :(

In that case, just use Select -> Modify -> border and set it to 1 pixel and there you have it. ^^
No need to inverse now.

Hey Hazuki! I finished the assignments seventeen minutes before it would have been late. xP

Assignment #1. My best banner. This was my best banner before banner number three.

Assignment #2. Dashed? Ha, I don't like dashed. It always seems to be a banner that is all frilly and not my style. So I tried making this as much of my style as I could.

Assignment #3. Definitely my best ever. These two took so much time, but they were sooo worth it.

You're really good. You should put some of these in the GRT (Graphics Rating Thread).

Anyway, I think in order to join a class, you need to ask at the graphics school. Not one of the class rooms. There's already a link to the graphics school in my sig, but here's another one. Just make a post requesting to be put in this class. They should accept you.

Ok. I made this for my sig/avatar, but I've adjusted the saturation a bit, too.
Here's the original render: Some Chick XD;

And here's the Avatar I made. I'll post the banner, too, because the avatar is very small (85x85), and it's hard to notice the differences.

I've also used a layer style here, so don't think that all the changes are by saturation alone.

If you want me to do it again, just let me know. Like I said, I made this banner for my sig/av, and it just "happened" to somewhat fit into our 4th assignment.
