Simple Q&A Thread

'nother question:

Is it possible to breed shiny pokemon to get more shiny pokemon? In other words- is shiny a gene that can be passed?

Haha...no....

Its a shame, really, but a shiny hatching a shiny has the same OUTRAGEOUS chance of catching one.

I laugh because we all though of that. Until we saw the truth.

Well, here's an EV lesson:

With Vitamins, they add 10 EV's to any one stat. (HP Up=10 HP, Calcium=10 SP>ATK, etc)

However, you can only give them vitamins until that stat has about 100 EV.

For instance, if Chansey has no EVs in HP, you can give it 10 HP Up, giving Chansey 100 HP EV's.

However, lets say Chansey already has 60 HP EVs. Then You can only give it 4 HP Ups, giving Chansey 40 more EV's, making that 100.

Now lets say she has 97 HP EV's. You can give her ONE MORE. Making that 107. But no more after that. Get it?

Sure. As long as that Quasire/Wooper is a male.

How do i find out what my Pokemons EV's are?
It's impossible, unless you've kept a detailed record of every Pokemon you've fought. I know, I hate Nintendo too.

EV wise is it best to max out two like speed and spatk and then leave the rest?
That really depends on the Pokemon. For a sweeper, it may be wise to max out Speed and Attack (keeping in mind that you only want to max it to 252, not 255, so you have an extra bit of EVs left). However, for walls or tanks, you may want to max out HP, then split the rest into Def/ SpDef, and possibly put some points into attacking. It really depends on the Pokemon.

Do i ev train as im gaing levels or before or whislt?
Every time you gain experience, you gain EVs. However, EV Training usually refers to being aware of EVs, and actively raising those EVs, rather than just fighting whatever comes your way.

The life orb do i get that through battle points?
No, I believe that it's found somewhere on Stark Mountain (I think it's outside the entrance, however, I'm not sure).

What are all the items need for EV training?
Well, items aren't needed for EV training. They just make it easier. Here are all of them:

Macho Brace: Doubles EV Points gained.
Power Weight: Adds +4 HP EVs to every gain.
Power Bracer: Adds +4 Atk EVs to evey gain.
Power Belt: Adds +4 Def EVs to every gain.
Power Lens: Adds +4 SpAtk EVs to every gain.
Power Band: Adds +4 SpDef EVs to every gain.
Power Anklet: Adds +4 Speed EVs to every gain.

If you have Pokerus, it's worth noting that the items act before Pokerus, meaning the equation looks like this:

(EV + 4) x 2 = Gain

For example, if you were fighting Golduck (2 SpAtk EVs ea.), you would gain 12 EVs each battle.

There. That should answer your questions.

Would Floatzel make a good Choice Banded Swift Swimmer? and if so, would the following be acceptable

Floatzel@Choice Band
Adament Nature
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
-Waterfall
-Headbutt
-Crunch
-Ice Fang

(Yea, I do have a thing about putting choice items on swift swimmers. Not my fault it works quite well)

EDIT: Is Manaphy consider Uber? I know base 600 stats, but Rain Dance + Hydration + Rest = free heal

Hey, I've been thinking of putting a Cresselia on my team, for multiple reasons:

1) I need a good Special wall.
2) It's not considered an uber.
3) Getting a Blissey with Seismic Toss is going to be a HUUUUEEEEG pain. (Blissey's out of the picture)
4) I already have a water type in the form of Slowbro (Milotic is out of the picture)

However, when I tried capturing it (using Master Balls and a Bold Ralts with Synchronize), I noticed that all three that I caught were Timid nature, with the exact same horrid IVs. Now, I had gotten the Lunar Wing a while ago, but I hadn't seen Cresselia in battle, so I assumed that it's nature and IVs were not set. However, considering the high improbability of getting three exact Cresselias in a row, I'm starting to wonder: when are Cresselia's IVs and natures set?

And if it turns out that there's nothing I can do, can anyone recommend a good Special Wall?

I don't think any Legedaries's iv's are set. Slowbro/Celebi is a good one.[/B]

Oddly enough, Slowbro is already on my team.

As for Celebi, I prefer to not use Legendaries, given how hard they are to breed (read: impossible). Besides, the only Celebi I have is Hasty, and may or may not be hacked (got it from a friend).

0.o It is? A good Sp.Wall that is non-Legendary is Dusknoir. 405 max Sp.def...

Alright, that sounds pretty good. My friend already has a Dusknoir, but then again, that's the same confliction I found myself with Milotic. So, Dusknoir it is.

Until I get a Blissey...

Seismic Toss is in Emerald/Fr/Lg. I have Emerald. A good alternate for ST is Counter/Ice Beam. The common Spread is 252 HP/252 def/6 Sp.Atk or Sp.Def. Running the moveset Ice Beam, Counter, or Seismic Toss like said/Aromatherapy/Softboiled/Thunder Wave....

I have Emerald too, and my friend has Leaf Green. The major pain in the butt is racking up the 48 BP required to get that Seismic Toss. And since I doubt that Seismic Toss is breedable, I need to raise him in Emerald, too.

Get 3 silver symbols, and then bet with the people by the battle pyramid. That'll save you some time, my friend.
