EV training

To all you experts out there... I just made my first attempt at EV training, and I just want to make sure I am doing things right.
I bred the pokémon with the nature I wanted, and fed it 6 of the medicine thingies. Then equipped it with the macho brace and infected it with pokerus, and went fighting wild pokémon for about 2 hours. I kept using the poketch to count up to the remaining 440 EV points, adding 4 after each battle.
The former level 1 pokémon is now level 23, does that sound about right? And what I really want to make sure - I can go on fighting random wild pokémon for levelling up now, and it won't affect the stat gain of my pokémon any more... right??

where do you get cranidos?

Go to the Underground using Explorers Kit (Key Item)

Find the Skull Fossil by digging

Give it to the Professor in the lab in Orebugh City

YOU GOT YOUR CRANIDOS!! W00T~

ty...

ive been trying that four hours..lol
i still havent found one.:(

You have a max of 510 EV's per pokemon BUT only 255 per each stat. And were those wild pokemon giving 1 EV and were they all the same EV?

Edit: O crap didn't even realise I had double posted, sorry about that everyone.

Yes, the wild pokémon were giving 1 EV each. (Shellos, Bidoof etc. at the windworks, 1 EV to either HP or Speed).
I actually fed 4 medicines for attack, then two for HP and 1 for speed. I know that won't let HP and Speed max out completely, but it's ok with me like that.. I just figured that battling those Speed and HP pokémon until the 510 points are full would be good enough for now. It's my first time after all ;)

im in hearhome city and im on the third gym. the way to solaceon city is blocked why?

I believe you either have to do stuff in the Contest Hall, or go into the Ghost Gym.

no i got it i went into contest hall and i hatched the hapiny and then my rival showed up and i beat him now i can enter thanks anyways...:)

Hello. Thanks for the previous answer.
Read all the stickies now :embarrass

I'm asking about the rocks like for example Heat Rock; +3 turns for Sunny Day. Does the bonus only work if the Pokemon that uses Sunny Day is the one holding the item?

Scenario: Pokemon without Heat Rock uses Sunny Day. On the fourth turn of Sunny Day I switch with a Pokemon with Heat Rock. Will there be 3 more turns for Sunny Day?

Thanks

I've got a friend who's playing Silver, and i want to giver her a good team to kick the Elite 4 and Lance in their asses. Is this okay:

Machoke
Kadabra
Typhlosion
Graverler
Ampharos

I'm not worried about levels, moves etc, as i can work all that out on my own once i know of a great team.

You can beat them pretty much with anything thats a higher level. An ice typo is higly recomended though. Lapras if I remember correctly can do alot of damge to the Elite 4.

Now about my question.

I have a Jolly natured Aerodactyl with Iv's HP:27 Atk:27 Def:22 Sp.A 9 (who cares) Sp.D:29 and Spd 27. I was originally going to max out speed and use it as my opener and Stealth Rocker but most people tell me to use my Steelix with Stealth Rock (not that I get why) so should I max out Speed still which has a max of 390 for me or take a some EV's out and sneak them into HP.

Also why use Steelix as a Stealth Rocker, I know he can take the hits, but he might come out second but I might not need him until fourth, that waists some valuable damage inflicting time.

Edit: Didn't see the SIMPLE question title, I just am not a fan of creating threads.

Hey anyone know a great moveset for slowbro aswell as a good EV spread? Also can someone explain to me the stratagy whilst using him?

I think Slowbro makes a good Physical Wall with this set:

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Own Tempo / Bold
EVs: 252 DEF / 216 HP / 40 Sp. ATK
- Slack Off
- HP Electric / Thunder Wave / Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Surf / Grass Knot / Thunder Wave

Here is the explanation of usage from Smogon:

While Slowbro has been a very powerful Pokemon given its limited usage since RBY, it has gained quite a bit of power in DP thanks to the addition of the excellent Slack Off, allowing Slowbro to recover HP without using Rest. Largely thanks to fellow Water-type Gyarados becoming as powerful as it has, Slowbro is an incredibly viable OU Pokemon, being one of the best counters to Gyarados(as long as it has Hidden Power Electric), as well as a general physical wall, able to take hits fairly well with 95 base HP and a monster 110 base Defense, and then force out the physical sweepers with the threat of Ice Beam, Hidden Power Electric, Grass Knot, or Surf.

Slack Off is an obvious choice here, as it allows Slowbro to recover off some of the damage it takes to enable it to stay in the game longer. Ice Beam enables Slowbro to counter Garchomp, Surf helps it deal with Infernape and Rock-types like Tyranitar and Rhyperior(though it should do so with care since both of those Pokemon frequently carry moves that are Super Effective on Slowbro in Crunch and Megahorn), in addition to being as close to a general power move as Slowbro can muster, as unlike the other potential moves it gets STAB. Grass Knot deals with other water types that might try to switch in and set up on the somewhat offensively inept Slowbro, as well as being yet another move that Rhyperior doesn't love. Hidden Power Electric allows Slowbro to destroy Gyarados, who would otherwise be able to set up on Slowbro. Using Slowbro without Hidden Power Electric drops its effectiveness quite a bit, but should it be necessary due to in-game breeding difficulties Grass Knot is an acceptable, if inferior, replacement. Thunder Wave is also a potential option, letting it bring faster sweepers down to it's level, paralyzing Pokemon on the switch, and generally being a nuisance for the opposing team.

The choice of ability is fairly irrelevant here - Confusion is almost never seen and Attract is seen even less than that. Own Tempo has at least some chance of coming into effect, but if you're breeding a Slowbro its ability should be one of your lowest priorities.

If you want to use Calm Mind then I suggest this set:

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Own Tempo / Bold
EVs: 252 DEF / 216 HP / 40 Sp. ATK
- Slack Off
- Calm Mind
- Surf / HP Electric / Grass Knot / Ice Beam / Psychic
- Surf / HP Electric / Grass Knot / Ice Beam / Psychic

Another quote for Smogon:

On the somewhat rare occasions Slowbro was seen in Advance it was normally carrying Calm Mind, and that is still a viable option for it. While the advent of Slack Off has allowed Slowbro to become more of a coverage Pokemon, its great Defense and good HP combined with Calm Mind boosting its average Special Attack and Special Defense enable it to tank fairly well in a way similar to Suicune, with the tradeoff of Slack Off instead of Rest in exchange for better defensive stats and the ability to Roar, as well as a few more weaknesses. Pick your poison with two of the attacking moves depending on what your team has the most trouble countering.

I repeat, I need EV's and Moveset for Gengar, and does he need Will "O" Wisp? And is the Feebas Waterfall the one inside a cave, where you can catch, Gyarados, Dratini, and Dragonair?
