4th Gen (Sinnoh Journal) - Anyone starting their journey in Sinnoh?

    Hey guys,

    as the title says, is anyone starting a new game in D/P/Pt?
    I am starting Pokemon Platinum for the first(sort of) time and was wondering if someone else is doing the same thing. I like having real life rivals, for complaining about slow game/annoying NPCs or simply discussing stuff. So yeah, if anyone is going to play any of these three games feel free to post here :D

    It's been ages since I had last played these games, haha. I've finished them for a total of six times, though, which is a lot. Because of that, if I give these games another go, I'm just not sure of I'll be enjoying them as much. :(
     
    I kinda have to since I'm doing a complete demake of the game lol
    It's better to play it faster, so you see everything at once. Playing it slow loses the feel.
     
    I finally finished Platinum this month, and I started it back in November. It was for a challenge here on the forum, my team was Quagsire, Bronzong, Crobat, Umbreon, Glalie and Drifblim, and it was assigned by another user over at The Location Challenge.

    It was my first time playing Platinum, and the team was quite different from what I usually use. Crobat was the only one I used before, and he was as good as I remembered, and well, I had a Drifblim in post-game Unova, and I wanted to really make full use of him this time, but the others were always better alternatives for the important battles. All in all, it was fun and different.

    As for the Gyms, I found most of them easy, with Crasher Wake probably being the toughest Leader for me. I had high expectations from Byron, but that match was suck a letdown. And well, the Champion battle was very though, as expected, Cynthia's team was a handful of course.

    Hey, why did you decide to start Platinum anyway?
     
    I'm contemplating starting a new DPPt game soon, or perhaps resuming an old file that I haven't gotten too far on (I think my Pearl file only has one badge, if that, so that could be a good starting place). It's been quite a while since I played through Sinnoh, so I would enjoy doing so again. Of course, I've also been considering starting new files on Ruby, Black/Black2, and Y (I have a bunch of spare games lying around that I haven't done too much with), so we'll see what wins out. But if I do restart/play through DPPt, I'll let you know how it goes. Not sure what team to use if I go for it, though I feel like I should use something different than what I've used already.

    Totally understand you. You might want to give it a try at least. I am just finishing Firered which I played before already but was still extremely enjoyable.

    I never play it fast, I like to explore everything and I like taking my time to do it. Plus I play onlycouple of hours a day at most so it doesnt get boring/irritating/anything else bad.

    Phew, I started reading and I was like "pls no spoilers, pls no spoilers"lol.
    I am doing a Pokemon marathon, I only ever played first three generations and I am a huge Pokemon fan/maniac so I figured it's time for me to play it all (plus I have a bit more money so yeah, I can sort of afford it now, at least some of it for a start xD). Anyway I finished Yellow at the end of last year, Crystal a month or wo ago, and I am about to finish Firered. I was supposed to start Emerald now but cant find a legit one so I postponed it, plus I figured out I'll enjoy Emerald and Soulsilver more if I go through Platinum first. I played Platinum for a few minutes on pc years ago only so this will be a completely new experience for me.

    tl;dr I am doing a marathon and it's Platinum's turn now. It's been sitting in my desk for a whole year, it's time. lol

    Ah I am planning to do the same thing. After Platinum I am moving to Emerald, then SS, White etc. If you start with Platinum let me know. I am changing teams in every game so idk. There are a lot of Pokemon in Pt but some of them are so far in game. I'll just play the game and take Pokemon along the way, I'll improvise a bit more than usual.


    Also, I am a slow player, so if anyone else is like that, that'd be great xD
     
    I don't think I'll be picking up DPPt or even HGSS for that matter anytime soon. :(

    Mainly because I don't have the time to play them and two, I can't part with some of the Pokemon on the saves haha. :')
     
    I have an old save in Diamond I still have to finish which is very close to the end, but I do plan on restarting after I beat it for partially the nostalgia factor. DPPt is when I got back into Pokemon, being absent for most of the Advance generation, so I have a soft spot for it even if it's not my favorites. Also, I haven't played through those games very much. I only played through once and would like to relive a lot of the adventure.
     
    Well, no. I got Platinum a couple years ago and completed it.But just recently, I decided I would make a new "dream team". Good luck to everyone just starting the game!
     
    I just started another Diamond playthrough the other day. I had started one a while back in another attempt to play the female character, but I just can't do it. I have to have Dawn, as Dawn, in my game. So I gave up on that one and started another as the male, and as Arlo.

    He's currently in Floaroma Town - just beat the grunts in the meadow, but hasn't yet gone in and cleaned out the Windworks.

    Team is Monferno, Budew, Shinx, Starly, Geodude and Bidoof. I'm planning on swapping out most of them along the way, but I have no idea yet what for.

    Lol jk, nice team, I will be doing the same thing, I will just see what I am going to use along the way, I have the obsession to plan the team from the start, I'll try to improvise a bit more on this one. Let me just emphasize this "try" part :D
     
    Sadly I can't start anew as much as I want to, emulators run horribly on my current computer, and I can't be bothered to buy a DS and a copy of Platinum/Diamond. It would be nice to revisit the generation where I started my Pokemon endeavours, but I don't have the time or money to bring them into my life again. Have fun replaying them though, be sure to post in the travel journal some time; I'd like to see how your adventure's going! :>

    This thread excites me. :3 The main reason for that is that I just finished Diamond (well, the main part of it anyways) and I am currently waiting on the boyfriend to play Platinum with him. He had to convince me not to play Platinum before Diamond and Pearl because I REALLY like the winter outfits that Dawn/Lucas have available. Yes, I realize that that was a completely silly reason, but that's what he is here for. He balances me out.

    I'm completely excited for you to be starting Platinum. It will be a week or more before he is able to start, so I'm having to be the good guy and wait. He only has one DS right now and does NOT want to start over and lose some of the pokes he had on there. Completely understandable, but darn... I'm really excited to play, and to get to start our journeys at the same time. It's definitely an exciting feeling.

    Did I mention that I love this thread? :3

    Omg so I just started and so much memories from only the intro song. Those first few seconds of the intro, that song, so awesome much amazing!
    Seriously though, so mysterious, I love it! :D
     
    So nothing can wake me up except for Pokemon! and college...
    5:30 AM up and playing.
    Took Piplup for now, idk if I'll keep him but he's alright for now. Caught all the Pokemon from the first route, doubt any of them will stay in my team pernamently. I was hoping to get Murkrow sometime, but not, it has to be a Diamond exclusive :L

    Anyway, I love this so much, all this time I've been playing Pokemon games, but this is the first time in 5 years I'm playing a new main series game so I find this to be rather awesome.

    Also, loving the day/night thing again, I only wish night was a bit darker, but that's alright. :D
     
    Hey Sven,

    I'd suggest you instead post your entries in the 4th Gen Travel journal as it was created specifically for recording your journey; having whole threads would get messy.

    I'm going to leave this open since, wynaut, the original topic is pretty interesting.

    I actually just bought a copy of platinum for the first time and playing through it now :) I'm just using grass pokemon though (because they're the best) which is just a meganium from my soulsilver and a roserade. I'm just at victory road now. The reason I'm going through it, is mainly because I want to get all the ribbons on one pokemon :p (meganium) So far I have all the soulsilver ones and 7 contest ribbons.
