I know there have been threads about this already but i have one quick question.
OK, first of all, I know that Mew isnt under the truck. After hearing the rumor, i actually went through the trouble to find out. After skipping the SS anne, (by trading a pokemon who already knew cut to my game) and then obtaining surf and strength, i tried it. It didnt work. So, my question to you is,

Why do you think the truck is there?

Because it's an Easter Egg? There's no real point to it. At all. It's just there so people can find something they least suspected. Plus, it also creates interest for the game. You'd be surprised by how many people join Pokémon forums just to ask about the truck.

This is probably the only answer you'll ever need.

Another theory is there could have been an event involving the truck early in the game's development, then they scrapped it. Instead of removing the truck they just left it, even though it had no use anymore.

Sort of like the forest shrine in GSC. In the Japanese edition, and maybe in the early stages of the American version, you got the GS ball, stuck it in the shrine, and Celebi appeared.

I've heard that rumor billions of times haha.
You know something, I am probably the only person here who has NEVER seen that truck.
    XDD

It is at Vermillion City, and can only be reached by surfing off the dock in the map with the SS Anne.

Nope count me in that group. I've known about it and everything, and I've seen it in pictures, but never actually seen it in my game.

Easter Egg. Its just there like the trees and buildings. Its for show. Though I half belived the rumor myself :\

This truck thing is baffling. I only first heard about this myth about a month ago...

I can see why it would be somewhat believable though.

God, how many forums do I have to say this on? xDD

It's an easter egg. There is nothing special about it, except for a cookie in frlg. Editing the game itself would be the only way to make any Pokemon under the truck. You have rumors, we have code.

Now, one more thing, dearies. The truck is part of the background. This means, its not an overworld. It can't move without changing the map, and map changes only occur when the map is changed.

Long ago in my younger years I was studpid and tried it. I think they just added it so it was not so empty there even though not many would see it anyway.
Maybe they where going to add something there in early in development and didn't in the end; or a worker made it and wanted it to get it in the game so they hid it a bit but I don't think so somehow lol.

Most likely an easter egg. Or maybe Nintendo really put it there so someone would go make a rumor about it so more people would play it I guess :P

Just an Easter Egg/piece of scenery imo and nothing more sadly. Makes sense it's there if you think about it, how else are they going to transport those crates!

I can remember the first time I actually visited the truck on Pokémon Blue, was weirdly excited haha. But yes, excitement quickly turned to disappointment when the damned thing wouldn't budge.

I do think it's clever how they slipped it back in there in the later generations, almost as if teasing us again haha.
