Almost all of the first hacks were made by combining a previous real game's name with something like shiny, ultimate or genesis. Later on people started using real colours or gemstones. Amethyst, Topaz, BROWN...

All things are taken. Now people tend to make incredibly odd names like AshGray, Liquid Crystal and even...Even Rock? POKEMON ROCK VERSION WITH NEW AND ORIGINAL FEATURES we feature Fakemon, super new HMs and a map totally not excactly equal to the original one!

People are getting uncreative and I understand why. There aren't any names to choose from anymore! Well...That's what people believe, but I can already name Pokemon Amazonite, Pokemon Apatite and Pokemon Pyrite! Please, people, get some creative names for your hacks! I would be much more tempted to play Pokemon Nitrate than Pokemon Golden Silver!

    What are you guys opinions?

I honestly don't care about what random dudes on the internet name their projects. For instance, I'm sure there's already a hack somewhere called Pokemon Jade, but that's not stopping me from calling that one of my future projects.

Seriously, it is just a name. That shouldn't really matter (unless it is called Pokemon - South Park version, then be worried), it is the gameplay what truly counts. After all, I've seen dozens of games made by game companies with uncreative names (such as really basic X2: Reunion) that were quite good.

I was talking about something like this in the chat earlier today.

Anyway, I can't see why people get so bothered if you use another hack's name. Especially if it wasn't intentional. Why not have two hacks under the same name? Where's the problem?

Well when you can say hey check out pokemon ___ version! and they go seen the wrong one? =P

Theres a bunch of colors and gems and minerals to use, plus more.
pokemon clay / silt version! LOL

It seems like some want popular names, like topaz, jade, so ther overused i think i cant remember. some are creative still.

Anyways to a point i think its ok to use anothers name even though you know they had it first, like if its pokemon red ruby. they dont techonily own the name

Does names really matter? Like, Banjora said, the gameplay is what matters. They're just titles for hacks x-x

I'm going to close this now because all we're getting is people repeating each other and that's not going to change with more posts.
