oh NO... you guys are saying it could've been worse... Chimchar IS the worst. that name is just bad. something like Chimpyre would've done so much better. the rest are ok except for Glameow... another normal cat poke with 'meow' in its name?

There are a number I dont like... but at least Pochama and Pachrisu keep their names.
Mimiroru's new name... I get how they got it, but I prefer Mimiroru.

Chimchar sounds like a mix of Charmander and Chimecho... T_T

EDIT: Damn Double post, now I'll make this post Interesting:

[PokeCommunity.com] Some new Names!

This is the pic that shows Pochama with a differant name, this shows thar Pachirisu still looks the same...

It does... sort of.

So it does... well I dont mind too much as I probably wont get the English version but I wonder what they put for Pochama instead then. The pic isnt clear enough to read.

It is definatly Starting with a P... Ending with a Y and has less letters than Pochama

They all sux!
Especially Croalurk.
No idea about pronounciation!
Crap it! Stick to Japanese names!

Oh, stop complaining everyone. >>;

Never mind that all the cats have had "Nya" in their Japanese name. :cheeky:

Yeah, a lot of them sound odd, but half the Japanese names just plain wouldn't work. And did someone seriously just complain about Floatzel? Honestly, no one can make up their mind. The only reason I don't like Chimchar and Turtwig is because they don't flow well. But I bet way back in 2003 everyone complained about Treecko and Mudkip, too. >>

Funny that people don't like Chimchar having char in it when at least three Pokemon's names have ended in "dos".

Now, some of the romanizations might have worked (Gregal, Naetle, Kolink) but the majority are just too odd-sounding. Even Pachirisu.

But Mimiroru? Have you ever tried saying that? It's impossible without adding a huge Japanese accent to it.

Carnivine and Shieldon are the best, imo.

~Chibi~

the names are dumb. : P
they need to be as good as those RBY ones.
personally i like the romanized japanese names. "Naetle" and such

Honestly, this is the first generation of Pokemon where I've taken it upon myself to memorize the Japanese names before they're dubbed... With past generations, because I didn't know their Japanese names, for the most part, it didn't bother me...

Now that I'm used to D/P's Japanese names... they're english ones really bother me. D:
Turtwig at least makes alittle bit of sense, same with Hikozaru's name...but...the others are just... blah.

Spike is probably the most unoriginal and ridiculous name for a Pokemon I have ever heard.

Pochamas Name is not 100% confirmed... according to serebii.net it's name could be Piplup!

I heard that Spike is incorrect, and that Spinx is it's name, which i hope is ture.

spinx might not be sure even though i hope so because it sounds , good

Lol @ Piplup. That doesnt sound that bad IMO but kinda weird

Where does it come from? Because it has P's in it?

the names aren't bad i could live with them, they're only names after all:P

The new names are actually better than the ones I guessed up.
I have heard that Floatzel, Pachiseru, and Pochama/Piplup aren't the actual names. Plus, I guessed Starly was the English name for Mukkuru!

All the others: they're final. You know all Nintendo's going to do is turn a deaf ear to you complainers out there.

Of course you can remember, there are nicknames for a reason! Plus, I wonder if since its DS, you might be able to still use Katakana?
