2nd Gen Something You Might Not Know about Gold/Silver

When the Pokemon games first arrived, Red, Green and Blue seem to have been intended to be the only versions at the time. Of course, when comes a storm of success, linear sequels are made as the last games, then an even bigger storm of success, newer games seemed rushed out and from that point I feel they have degenerated.

It seems to me that Pokemon became so popular merely out of chance — becoming a fad at the time, as there were already a number of manga and possibly other things in existence yet those did little to propel the franchise. They have struggled in meeting at least my own expectations as time went on.

I know we all hope that the Blue Blur's problem won't happen with Pokemon. Imagine That. Oh god, that'd be HORRIBLE. NO! The nightmares keep coming back! Run! Save yourselves!

Yes, it's like hopelessly digging for oil then suddenly find it and start selling it ...
If it stopped at 2 Gen then ... ... ... .. .........
I would have never played Pokemon !! I played 3 Gen further soooo ...
Glad that he changed his mind !! ^^

Thank god they didn't stop there. :pink_disbelief:

Personally I think Pokemon is going to go the saaame way as Digimon. The anime died after johto, hoenn is craaap. Sinnoh is worse. I bet fifth gen land'll be horrible as well. No, it isn't nostalgia @ the show, I was watching Johto a few days ago, this morning I watched Sinnoh. Obvious difference in quality. The games; Sinnoh is boring, there's just NOTHING to do. In GSC/HG/SS you could play the *fun* slots, listen to the *good* music, and actually have fun. I think it should have stopped maaaybe Gen 3, at a stretch. :| Gen 4 was never meant to be created ;_;

Well that is certainly something to think about.
Was it really for the better?
I admit i DO enjoy these new games, but some pokemon just don't make sense to me.
like remoraid, a fish, evolving into an octillery, and octopus. :O

honestly i wouldnt have mind if the games stopped at GSC. the stories of the other games fell a bit disjointed compared to the RBYGSC continuity, and 251 pokemon was balanced the best. although, I do like the addition of the ability system, so its not all bad.

Pokemon will never end as long as there is always a reason to by another game. This is the main reason why you can't obtain every game on a single cartridge. With each new Handheld, comes a new game, only because you can't trade back to other ones. It's getting slimmer, but the games will need new pokemon, in order for people to 'collect them all'. As long as that is there, the sells of Pokemon will only go up. It's a fact, Pokemon is one of the best selling video games in the world, passing most titles combined like Tom Clancy, Halo and Call of Duty.

With new generations of fans, there is always a new possibility for someone to take kind to the new generation of pokemon, unlike us older players who were there for the very first set and got to play it back then.

It's Marketing, and being in Online Marketing, I definitely understand what they are doing and it would be foolish to stop it. The only reason one might stop a mega-series like this, would be for to put a nice end to the story which would only happen by the creator (and if they company agreed). Let's be honest, that wont happen.

Nintendo <3 Money

it just makes you realize how fragile a big industry can be. it can be there one second & gone the next...im happy they continued though, its just i hav this scary thought that soon they'll reach their peak. a very realistic, but shocking look at it...just imagine what kind of impact it'd have if coca-cola just stopped...horrible isnt it?

Well one, Just wanted to note what I've heard not validated. Didn't the original designer for Pokemon quit after the second Generation? If that's true that'd explain why so many old schoolers enjoy the two designs specifically.

I've been player since Crystal (Mid-Schooler? LOL) which to this day is my favorite, most likely that is Nostalgia.

But I for one enjoy EVERY generation, EVERY Pokemon, I mean sure you can't beat the Original. It's like comparing Classic titles like Half Life to Half Life: Episode 2, They have MAJOR differences but fans embrace them equally, one as a founding block and quality gaming, the other as cool effects, AI control and plot.

I don't see them stopping ANY TIME soon, In japan it's just about as popular as it was twenty years ago (It was released in 1990, right?). And even if it was, not long after another company would come along and buy the dead/abruptly stopped franchise and build it back up, maybe not to FULL fledged force, but well enough.

Pokemon are like puppies, just because one is a different breed, it can't be just as cute as the first breed and litter.

Bring on Generation CCCXXXVIII!

but its just liked when a beloved pet dies(& i mean really beloved). u go get another but its never the same as the first one, & u could never love that pet as much as u did the first...

The best cure for losing that which is loved, is obtain that which you can also love.

Not to disagree, You can never replace the old, far from it. No one can ever replace the seat in my heart for my very first Pokemon, Cyndaquil which I named David. The adventure that him and I shared was strong and full, It's hard to believe a non-living thing can make you feel that way until it happens.

All I'm saying, is I had an adventure near as great with Torchic named Rust. And my Treeko named Levving. Just because a generation is passed, doesn't mean it will ever be loved less, now you just have more TO love.

But back directly on topic; It's a scary thought to think of the Saga dying on you. Imagine what would of happened. The only places to go would be with guys and girls in their twenties talking about their old teams, and their dad's talking about asteroids (Is it weird I still play that on the Atari?). I don't think I could imagine what could of been, I'm glad it never came to be.

It would indeed be terrible to think of Pokémon ending. It's just something about Pokémon that gets me excited every time it's mentioned. I hope the series runs for a lifetime.

I personally agree, I would love to see it run until I die, and hopefully beyond. And I think Pokemon just has that effect when you have memories tied, it's almost like a jump in your heart when you think 'Pokemon? Pikachu? Pikachu Nomming apples... <3'

i c what u mean...its weird talking about pokemon ending cuz u just cant imagine it. i would rather see pokemon continue until they go bankrupt(which i highly doubt they will), than just stop & say "thats as good as its gonna get". but it must come some day. as one great person once said..."All good things must come to an end."

Yep but some things can take longer than others =P

That's actually really shocking. As much as I enjoy the games, I do feel three pokemon rangers is milking it a little. I think Generation 4 if a good place to stop. Gen 5 looks awful.

you know I don't see the problem with gen 4. of course you can't beat the originals but its a pokemon, I love pokemon dearly and hopefully always will. Yeah gen 6 is a good place to stop I think, but they probably won't stop the games for money.
Also isn't it nice when you hear the word pokemon or look through your pokemon or plushies, it just gives that special feeling. Also there is no limits in pokemon! you can cosplay, create fakemon, make pokemon plushies, it never ends!
and even if it does end, doesn't mean it has to happen to us.

You're right. A plushie gives me a warm feeling. It takes the non-existent, and makes it real.
