2nd Gen Something You Might Not Know about Gold/Silver

I'm glad they made the right decision. :) If it ended in Gen II, we wouldnt have the Pokewalker.

Hmm, would have been alot diff if they had quit it then. It'd be good in some ways (preserve the good ol pokemon with not hoards of stupid new pokemon) but bad at the same time. Overall I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing they didn't quit it...

what saved the series in gen. 2 is what is going to keep the series going forever - money!

Wow, I never knew that.
They would've been crazy not to continue making games with all the hype though.
And look at how far they've come with their franchise?

Wow...no Mudkips? That would suck REALLY bad. I kind of like Arceus though. So, hopefully new generations will stop after 5/6. New games don't have to stop as long as they start being more original like I don't know come up with something besides "Gotta catch 'em all and get the 8 badges and beat the Elite four and level 'em all up to 100 and get all the ribbons, etc. etc. etc."

if it had stopped we would have never met team aqua and magma..

You say this like it's a bad thing.

By that time the pokemon designs will probably be a bit... uncreative, they'll run out of ideas. There really isn't much more they can add to the games, and there is already almost 500 pokemon.

I personally don't think the designs have gotten worse. They've gotten more complex, either that there's a few new Pokemon that are just so ugly, you count them as 5, which makes it seem like the designs are just bad. The only gen IV designs I don't like are Carnivine, Lickylicky (my friend asked me REALLY LOUDLY to trade me one over the bus...that was...embarrassing, to say the least), Turtwig line, Prinplup, and a few others that I guess aren't awful enough for me to remember right on the spot. The older Pokemon were just more simple and that's what we were accustomed to. I think that if you swapped the order (as in gen IV being the first to come out) and went on down, people would complain that gen I (taking gen IV's place) is too simple and uncreative. Think about it. Diglett digs, Muk the pile of muck, Rattata the rat, Krabby the crab, etc.

That doesn't even have anything to do with it, what am I talking about? /rant

But I love pokemon <3
I'm glad it's still going.

cool info, and yes 2gen was the best game maybe made with that intention

- but if we look at 5gen it sucks, its a 4th grader drawing omg... how ever great info!
thx

Gold/Silver has Slot Machines while Heartgold/Soulsilver has it taken out due to laws :(

Wow. I think that stopping at Gen VI would be a good choice, but they should bring out a Remake or something once in a while(HG/SS;XD). By the time Gen IV comes out, either Pokemon will be dead, or it would flourish into ANOTHER 4 generations. Which would in turn continue the cycle... :D

meh, i would have been happy with my gameboy and pokemon yellow for the rest of my life

Even if they stop making new Pokèmon games, you can just play your old ones. And they did try to change the story line; it's called Pokèmon Mystery Dungeon and Pokèmon Ranger. And the GameCube series. And Pokèmon Snap. And Pinball. And the Ranch for the Wii. Plus the variations for my original 'Spinoff' games. I believe I had a Pokèmon pinball game. Well that and Snap (N64 and Wii), which is by far my favorite non-main-series game, and at least one game of every generation. Oh, and Pokèmon Ranger, something about darkness, or time, or maybe something about Almia? I dunno, played it until I couldn't get past these Tyranitars. I hate that game more than I hate this one Dolphin game for the DS.
Oh. I got a bit off-topic, but my point is: I'm only fourteen and I play these games, excluding the game cube nonsense. Oh, wait that's wrong, I had some Pokèmon game where there were Pokèmon in my backyard and Pro. Oak kept giving me TV's. And Hey You Pikachu! But I didn't have a microphone. But that might not be GameCube. Oh well, ignore that middle part, so I don't think it'll die down so soon as any second. I predict a healthy ten to twenty more years until someone says the word Pokèmon and no one else knows what they're talking about. Hmm. Maybe thirty, actually.

you were thinking about pokemon channel and hey you, pikachu! was on N64(i think)

I, personally, am glad they did not stop pokemon at Gen II, because if they had I would never have known about pokemon or played the games (I joined when FR/LG were pretty old - I was a deprived child, leave me alone). I think it is good that they stop at Gen VI - stop before it completely dies (hopefully) to not look too greedy. Although, why 6? What is special about that?
