Varies. If I forget to do something, then yeah.. "I forgot" is the most common.

I generally don't have to give an excuse when I'm late for class seeing as I'm in university and the prof really doesn't care why you're late. Um, but in high school, when I didn't finish homework I'd usually go "I forgot about it" or "I didn't understand what we had to do!" Whenever I "forgot" (aka chose not to do) a household chore, I'd generally go "I didn't know I had to do that!" and yeah. My excuses are so lame haha.

Most of my excuses are for missing university classes - mainly Japanese ones, unfortunately - and they end up being a combination of: food poisoning, parents' birthdays, apologies for sleeping in, rescheduled classes clashing with Japanese and anything else that sounds vaguely plausible over e-mail.

The most ridiculous one I've used isn't that ridiculous really: just that I was travelling to France for the week for a project for one of my classes, when in reality I was travelling to just a different part of London for an afternoon!

Anything believable that would excuse me from the task/job/thing in question. Usually if I'm at home, I fake sleeping to get out of it, if I'm too lazy to, or when I'm at school I have a variety of believable/acceptable excuses, which I usually just pull out of my ass on the spot.

What do you usually use an Excuse for?
For when I've had a long day or a bad day and i'm not in the mood to go out or do anything or pay ten dollars for a movie I just know is going to be crap. That's the standard reason, or sometimes if my friends have been lame I'll skip out on seeing them until I cool off.

What is your excuse?
I used to go on and give them a nice response like "I'd love to but I have a big paper to write tonight" or "I would but I have such an early class tomorrow and I want to actually be awake for it". My friends don't take me not going out with them very well, so usually I get a snappy response. So now I don't bother being nice, I just say "I can't tonight" and let it be.

My other more reasonable friends get my excuses because they're awesome and know that one or two missed hang outs does not mean our friendship needs to be questioned ;)

Depends on my mood. If I am even slightly irritated, I'll go with "I do not want to waste my time". If I am feeling nice, I'll come up with something stupid, without caring of the others buy it: "I can't, I have to purchase a dog for my aunt, maybe some other time".

Not sure. But I said I had an orthodontics appointment so I could go to collect my wallet at the city transport lost and found. I had a valid appointment exactly a week earlier and the school's attendance administrator didn't even notice. They're used to my appointments always during school so I get half days xD
