This thread is for speculating what we think will be the future of Ash's Pokemon in the anime, be it his current Unova Pokemon, or his other Pokemon he has with Prof. Oak.

    On his Unova Pokemon:
Snivy: The way I see it, she might end up staying as a Snivy to maintain her rivalry with Trip's Servine. I could see her becoming similar to Pikachu in the sense that she would be very powerful, though not evolved. Also a similar story to Bulbasaur.
Tepig: Tepig might end up evolving at least once. I really want Tepig to be used more often and show more personality, as he doesn't really show much personality in battles. If he becomes a Pignite, maybe he'll get used more often.
Oshawott: Oshawott is another Pokemon I can see being unevolved, but powerful. A bit of a counterpart to Squirtle in the sense that he would show no reflection on whether or not he evolves, yet he never evolves, and learns high-level moves.
Tranquill: Tranquill will likely be like Ash's other region birds; she will end up fully evolving. But, she won't be used very often. I could see her being used against Clay, though, since she has the immunity to Ground.
Scraggy: I think Scraggy will evolve close to Ash's last badge, and go from being just a relatively weak baby to being a rather powerful opponent. This would be similar to Phanpy/Donphan.
Swadloon: I really wish he would use Swadloon more often. Since Swadloon evolves via happiness, I think Swadloon is bound to evolve eventually under Ash's care. As a Leavanny, he could become an excellent primary member of Ash's team.
Palpitoad: With Palpitoad, his future seems a bit fuzzy. But, with Ash having used him in the Club Battle, perhaps he'll end up being in future tournaments, potentially becoming a Seismitoad. But, Palpitoad on his own seems to fare pretty well.
Roggenrola: Roggenrola, for me, is giving a strong speculation that we might see our first trade evo in the anime. Ash's Roggenrola may eventually evolve into Boldore. Then, I can foresee Trip and Ash trading Gurdurr and Boldore. Now, Ash having a Conkeldurr may seem a bit unlikely, but it could happen.

Snivy: The way I see it, she might end up staying as a Snivy to maintain her rivalry with Trip's Servine. I could see her becoming similar to Pikachu in the sense that she would be very powerful, though not evolved. Also a similar story to Bulbasaur.

Because of how Paul-like Trip is, I think his Servine is going to be fully evolved by the end of the series. I think it would be weird for Snivy to have a rivalry with a fully-evolved version of herself, no matter what her character is like. Idk.

Oshawott: Oshawott is another Pokemon I can see being unevolved, but powerful. A bit of a counterpart to Squirtle in the sense that he would show no reflection on whether or not he evolves, yet he never evolves, and learns high-level moves.

I can see him as a Dewott at least. Oshawott is so childish, and if the writers want it to show maturity at all, I think evolving him would be a really good way.

Scraggy: I think Scraggy will evolve close to Ash's last badge, and go from being just a relatively weak baby to being a rather powerful opponent. This would be similar to Phanpy/Donphan.

I disagree with the part about it not evolving until the last badge, as I think it would be sometime before that, but I do agree about it going from babyish to being really powerful.

Well technically, the animé doesn't have to follow all the same rules as the games. They had Misty's Poliwhirl evolve without trading, although that was still with an item. Idk, I think Ash could trade to evolve it, but it anything I think he would trade back so he could keep it.

They had Misty's Poliwhirl evolve without trading, although that was still with an item.

Technically, Misty's Poliwhirl was traded (w/King's Rock). Misty left it at a Pokémon Center, holding the King's Rock, then later had it "traded" to another Center, causing it to evolve when it was called upon. It's the same case in "The Evolutionary War", where Clamperl dosen't evolve by just simply touching the DeepseaTooth/Scale. Instead "they" returned it to it's PokéBall (w/DeepseaTooth/Scale) and sent it to a Pokémon Center (through the same gismo as in Poliwhirl→Politoed-episode), causing it to evolve when called upon.

Oh, haha I honestly haven't seen those episodes in soooo long, I guess I missed that detail. :P But anyway, I guess Ash could maybe do that too then, instead of trading with Trip...

:) Well as for me, I can't see Snivy having a rivalry with Serperior, maybe it will at least evolve into Servine.
Tepig, I'm not so sure about. I want it evolve, but you could take Cyndaquil as an example, it didn't evolve during it's own saga.
Oshawott, I think will evolve into Dewott (maybe even Samurott).
Scraggy, will probably, as stated in a post above, evolve later in the series.
Swadloon could evolve if it's used more often. Additionally in Ash's care, it's happiness will probably be raised.
Palpitoad will probably not evolve, as it's pretty powerful as it is. Though I can see Ash with a Seismitoad.
I'm 99% sure that Tranquill will evolve. Since Ash has every fully evolved regional bird (Pidgeot was released).
Roggenrola could evolve by the means above.

Snivy - I agree on her being like BUlbasaur and probably won't evolve but will be really strong.
Tepig - I don't think it will get too much attention a bit like Cyndaquil (I didn't watch the Johto saga too much and can only remember Bayleef and Totodile getting attention so I may be wrong)
Oshawott - It likes to act tough yet chicken out so I think he'll probably evolve in an episode in which he is really scared and then finally bigs up and fight thus evoliving and will probably make it to the final form.
Swadloon - Will evolve eventually as most of the main bug types do; Butterfree and Beautifly
Tranquil - Will evolve as the region bird usually does.
Palpitoad - I reckon he'll evolve and may play a major part in the conference
Roggenrola - I don't really know due to it being a trade evo, I think they won't bother but if they do it will but then won't be used too much.
Scraggy - As people have stated, the baby turning intoo a powerhouse.

I think most of the concentration will be put upon Snivy, Oshawott, Scraggy and Palpitoad. Swadloon and Tranquil are the region bug and bird mascots which never get any attention, I really don't know if Roggenrola will get attention and due to there being a Charizard, Blaziken and Infernape in the gang at sometime I think they won't really bother with Tepig.

Snivy: I think she'll either stay the way she is (due to refusal to evolve for some reason), or at least evolve into Servine mid-Unova.

Tepig: unsure, but I think he could evolve all the way up to Emboar before the League.

Oshawoott: I see him as more of a comic relief character, so he'll stay as he is.

Tranquill: like Staraptor before her, she may evolve into Unfezant, but not be used often.

Swadloon: hopefully, he'll evolve into Leavanny soon, since it's been under Ash's care for some time.

Scraggy: I guess he could be similar to Phanpy/Donphan and evolve into Scrafty and become a powerhouse for the team.

Palpitoad: He's pretty good at battling, and he could either stay as is, or evolve into Seismitoad during or before the Unova League.

Roggenrola: I think it could evolve into Boldore at least; the Gurdurr/Boldore trade does sound cool; Ash may have Gigalith or Conkeldurr depending on the circumstances.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - Obviously Pikachu is the main stay on any of Ash teams as it is his first, his go to, yada yada.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - Although Tranquill isn't get much appearances or battles I can see it evolving like the rest of the regional birds to its final stage. Maybe at Skyla gym or some kind of ringer contest.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - I really can't tell how Oshawott is going to end up. He could either be the Piplup 2.0 or a powerhouse. He has fared well in some of his matches and others he acted like a coward and eventually lost. So if he is going to evolve even to Dewott he needs to shape up. I really hope he does evolve at some point and they some how maintain a unique personality to it as it has one right now.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - Tepig seems geared for at least one evolution and he has history on his side since all his Fire types in the past have evolved at one point or another. Tepig seems to fare well and his often used in matches so that leads me to believe useage and how it has devoloped moves like Flamethrower leads me to believe it's definitely on the road to Pignite at the very least. If Oshawott doesn't make it to Dewott or Samurott then I can definitely see it as an Emboar but I think we can have two full evolved starters anyways.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - I just get this feeling Snivy won't or doesn't really need to evolve. All it needs to do is refine it's skills so it won't go down so easy like it did to Elesa Emolga. It already has powerful moves in Leaf Storm and Leaf Blade, and utilizes Attract well. If it does evolve then I see it must making it to the point of Servine. And I don't buy the rivalry with Trips either I honestly don't see anything that makes me say yes this is a rivalry. And even though Paul and Ash both had Torterra I don't see the need for two Serperior.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - Speaking of a rivalry that I actually think maybe be there I'd say it's between Scraggy and Axew. And can see this going on too maybe a possible match up in the 8th Gym(pending Drayden battles Ash). Scraggy has been developing battle wise since the Negotiator Meowth episodes so I see no reason why it won't evolve.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - For Swadloon to evolve it needs to be completely happy with Ash(yes game mechanics), even if they apply that to this Ash is as loving as any trainer, so I see absolutely no reason why it won't evolve. At this point it seems probably the most mishandled pokemon and has few appearances to speak of. But this weeks episode cast a ray of hope since we finally saw an appearance since I believe the fillers in between Castelia and Nimbasa. Have my fingers crossed we see it evolved around the time of Clay Gym as well as Dewott they could definitely help out there.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - I'd say Palpitoad has at the very least been consistent since captured it the matches it has been in. I am sure we will see it in more important battles here to come, although I don't see it battling to often. Could be like the Muk of this Gen expect used more often. I can see it evolving into Seismitoad pending how they handle Oshawott.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    - I don't really think we have seen an actually battle from it under Ash. It did prove strong with it's employment of Flash Cannon on a few occasions so it least it has that going for it. I can't help but think Trip and Ash both having two trade evolution pokemon is coincidence so maybe we will be seeing Gigalith. I have heard speculation of it evolving into Boldore in the Kami episode who knows.

As far as what I hope to see Ash get in the future which I think he has at least one more capture under his belt. Krokorok - Hasn't appeared in forever so I am more weary now then last time this topic was made. Cubchoo - Ash hasn't had an Ice type in awhile so maybe a late capture, hopefully becomes a Bearartic in a filler Saga after Unova. Bouffalant - I get the Tauros feeling with this, so maybe Ash gets one. Heatmor - He already has two of Grass and Water so maybe a second Fire? Who really knows but I could see it as a good stand alone for him.

I guess Ash's Pokemon will evolve sooner or later.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
Well, not much to say here. Pikachu will not evolve. Never.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
I am expecting Oshawott to evolve to Dewott at the very least (but that is much wishing. None of Ash's Water Pokemon evolved as of the current episode). For statistical sake, I think Oshawott will not evolve.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
I think this little Tepig here will evolve to at least a Pignite. It will be a real powerhouse if it evolves to Emboar like charizard.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
Since it is mostly like Chikorita, who evolved, i think Snivy will evolved all the way to Serperior.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
This is consistent. it will evolve to an Unfezant.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
I think Scraggy will not evolve. It is already a tad too strong in his form now.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
Swadloon definitely needs to be evolved. Ash needs a bug-type after Heracross and Butterfree.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
It would be pretty awesome if it evolved to Seismitoad. But, reason same as Oshawott, I think it would be stuck as a Palpitoad forever

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
well, it was seen evolving in the battle with clay. So I guess, it will be a boldore.

Some Pokemon I want Ash to catch.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    this guy fits Ash perfectly!

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
it would be better if Ash got the Axew.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon
    Like Cubchoo.

    My prediction for Ash:

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

He will always stay as Pikachu, not going anywhere.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Ash's Flying-type Pokemon always fully evolve so I definitely see Unfezant coming.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Oshawott is Ash's main starter (the Chimchar of Unova) so I could see him as Samurott.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Tepig will also likely fully evolve, all of Ash's Fire-type starters evolve.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

I think Scraggy will evolve to improve his strength.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Swadloon I see evolving, Ash with a Leavanny would be epic.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Palpitoad will stay as he is, too strong already.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Well, we already have evidence of the Driftveil Gym battle so Roggenrola will evolve into Boldore.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

I think Ash should catch an Elgyem, it is a great first Psychic-type for him.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Ash hasn't caught any Ice-types since Glalie so I could see Cubchoo as a possibility.

[PokeCommunity.com] Speculation on the future of Ash's Pokemon

Golett is a nice possibility for Ash's first Ghost-type.

*image removed*: Agreed with everyone else. Will not evolve ever. Will probably continue to be his best pal and main team member because I think he's too well established now to get rid of. I know if he did I'd be bawling! Yes, I'm sad haha
*image removed*: I think she's going to turn into one of his strongest team members. I don't think she'll evolve though, much like Bulbasaur (like the OP said).
*image removed*: Not sure if I like Tepig all that much. It's a sweet Pokémon that seems to really want to do its best, which is nice, but I don't know. He's definitely not one of the strongest on the team.
*image removed*: I found Oshawott really annoying to begin with (albeit cute), but I'm warming to him. I kind of liked the scared of water storyline. I personally hope Oshawott evolves because I like Dewott and Samurott, but I'm not sure if he will.
*image removed*: I think Tranquill will get a bit of use, but not a lot. She'll probably be used for searching for things/people when they're lost like Staraptor was a lot haha. I'm also going to guess that since she's evolved once, she will evolve again into Unfezant. Although I prefer the look of Tranquill to female Unfezants :\
*image removed*: I agree with the OP, I think Scraggy will remain fairly weak until late on in the series.
*image removed*: I was surprised when Ash caught a Sewaddle to be honest... didn't think it would be the kind of Pokémon he would want to catch. But yeah, I don't really have a lot to say about Swadloon other than I hope it evolves into Leavanny, which, as the OP pointed out, will only happen if he uses it more.
*image removed*: I really like Palpitoad. I think it could turn into one of his strongest if he trains it properly. It seemed pretty strong before he caught it, so yeah. Definitely one to watch. I'm not sure if it'll evolve. I know it's already evolved but he caught it like that, so it's hard to say.
*image removed*: I love Roggenrola in the games, so I was happy when Ash added one to his team. I think the point about maybe seeing the anime's first trade evolution is an interesting one, I hadn't thought of that. Although I kind of hope that if it happens that they trade back so Trip keeps the Conkeldurr and Ash keeps the Gigalith.
