Spoilers!

Whilst we wait and hope and predict and argue, I thought we could have a little discussion about what we DON'T want to see in the run-up to the games. Everyone wants to know something, but there is such a thing as "too much information" for some. Some people are happy just knowing the games are coming, and other people want to know everything, from the new gameplay features right down to the plot twists. Some people delight in the leaks of dataminers, whilst others decry these as game-ruiners.

The nature of what a spoiler is varies from person to person and, where you have a line that is not at either extreme of all-or-nothing, it's very easy to inadvertantly cross it. So, where do you draw the line? What do you NOT want to hear about before the game's release? Do you want to know it all, or are you going to avoid every possible trailer, article, website, and person who might tell you more than you wish to know? What would a spoiler for USUM look like to you? Plot details are bad, but gameplay features are A-OK? The reverse? Want to discover new Alola forms (if they exist) for yourself? If it's in there - and assume for the argument it is - what would you want to find out for yourself, and what would you want to be told?

Giant plot details. Save the story for me to find out. I love hearing about datamined Pokemon, though. I'd love to see new Beasts or Alola Forms.

Just the plot and characters are what I'll try to avoid, not so bothered about the rest of it. For example if there are Gyms then great, but I'd love to wait and see who the new leaders are and what types they use rather than being spoiled beforehand.

I am fine with spoilers except for the demos. That is where i draw the line.

I wonder if people are more lax with general gameplay spoilers at the very least this time around because all the "major" things in relation to this will have already been revealed with SM. It's kinda interesting to see.

The thing about GF - and a lot of developers, in fact - is that they will inadvertantly spoil major things in trailers with out of context scenes. This is a pretty common thing for video games - especially if they have opening titles - and nobody ever gets upset about it...despite the major storyline spoilers these things can provide, amongst other things. I wonder if we saw stuff like that in the trailers if people would get upset. Context is important, but even seeing something without context can be a spoiler sometimes.

...of course this is Pokemon, so we won't be seeing any stellar storytelling, but we could still get these out-of-context moments in trailers that could constitute HUGE spoilers for some people.

Just give me some spoilers hehe .. I wanna hear news

This was also what I was thinking. Maybe we're getting less news coverage this time not just due to being the shortest gap between announcement and release since Japanese B2/W2, but also because S/M seems to have already covered most of 7th Gen's new features and that this will add further weight to US/UM's promotion of being an "alternate retelling" story.

Thing is, it's not like we'll be getting a new region with new Pokémon, moves, abilities and so on which means it's not going to be as extravagant as the S/M datamine leak was. The demo with the leftover images was the reasoning behind the reveal of the full Pokédex, and it's not like that can be spoiled once again unless they accidentally leave the files in which contain new forms. The only real way these games can be spoiled is if somebody gets their hands on the games a few days early which is more than likely.
