Reading through more of his posts, it doesn't seem like he's leaving.
The thread seemed to be mainly about staff leaving and anger towards BG and some other sites. To be honest, it's over-reacting ^^;
The staff point, i've already mentioned. I've only sporadically had staff who do help out a lot, and normally only two maximum, so having few staff shouldn't really attract to much sympathy ^^;
I can't say joe is my favourite person..he does come across as arrogant at time, and i wish that he'd be more grateful towards all of the content of the site that has been given to him by his staff and fans, but it's his choice how he runs his site.
With the sites that hate him, i don't see why he can't ignore them. Maybe's it's a case of male pride, i don't know. If i knew a site hated me, i wouldn't fight back and keep checking what they were up to, i'd just completely ignore them. If they want to continue to complain and me behind my back, fine, but i wouldn't resort to the same level, i'd just get on with my site :3
DF was once majorly hacked by an affiliate (that's right, affiliate) that i didn't even know hated DF. They put pr0n all over the site, and even resorted to hacking my aol account and deleting it, and they would've been completely successful if it hadn't been for one dear friend that i am forever grateful to. After it had happened, I didn't put the site back up and start complaining about them and telling everyone who did it, i just let it be, and even now i won't mention who it was...if they want to be petty enough to hack me, i'm not going to start retaliating and telling everyone what a horrible site they are. The fans would be able to work that out for themselves..
With the competition, that is very much expected. DF used to be above PPN when we were back on a server which was actually reliable, which goes back to Zapchu. Because we've been on such unstable servers since that time (hopefully this one will be more permanent), as well as the major hacking mentioned above and the recent server drop without warning, i've had to accept that DF has to work its way back up, but I honestly don't mind how well DF does (i'm not expecting it to gain its old position), i just concentrate on the reason i started the site in the first place, which was "because i enjoy helping fans".
If serebii wants to leave, so be it (and it should be a case of wanting to move on with his life as opposed to competition and a lack of staff), but he needs to understand that other sites are coming up and may overtake his popularity, that strong competition is unfortunately a must, and that he's extremely fortunate to have had all the staff and help that he did have, whether or not he still has them now. He should be grateful that he has had so many dedicated fans and staff, and that, no matter where his site ends up, at least he held the top position for a long while :3
