Spyware/Adware Problem

    I'm getting extremely frustrated now. I'm having a problem accessing PC as soon as I boot up my computer. It takes about a good hour or so before I can get here. If I try before then, I get "The page cannot be displayed". I've tried using Netscape, but I get "The page doesn't exist" or something like that. I'm not quite sure, but I think it's an adware/spyware problem. The sad thing is, I've done many scans. I have 3 programs but nothing gets picked up! I use Spybot, Ad-Aware, and a trial of Spysweeper. NOTHING GETS PICKED UP. I also get a number of blank pop-ups whenever I go to another site that never had pop-ups before. Can anyone help me?! It's greatly appreciated!
     
    It may infact be a worm then, thats flooding your connection.
    If you don't have a virus scanner, I recommend Trent Micro Housecall. It's a 100% free, web based virus scan that will actually give you an idea of any problems.
    Go give it a shot, and see.
     
    Well, I have Trend Micro Antivirus/Internet security with Real-time Scan enabled. Hasn't picked up anything. I don't know what to do anymore!
     
    Or you could get norton...... Ive have a worm... I think its downloader mx or something like that.... but it doesnt do anything.....
     
    I use AD-Watch SE Pro and AD-Aware SE Pro, and I have no problems with things like that. I am not sure, but I think I downloaded them from shareordie.
     
    I wouldn't worry much about it, I have to deal with the same thing. I've done Norton scans, Ad/Spy-ware scans, defragmentation, etc. Still happens.

    It's not that I'm like worried, it's just a hassel, because it takes a while to get here, and I get pop-ups every minute. Some are blank, some have stuff in them.
     
    Sounds like delayed pop-ups and a browser that likes to time out. =/

    If you don't have a virus/worm/adware/whatever, then it might be your browser. Do you have a pop-up blocker? (IE has a free one in Windows XP SP2)

    I don't know how to increase timing out settings, but that may be something to research into.

    I have the google toolbar and Check-it 86 (A free pop-up blocker that I got with Cox (my ISP) The wierd thing is though, the only page I can't access is PC. I'm on my newer computer now. But I'm usually on the other one. If I were to try and get here on it, I probably wouldn't be able to.
     
    Maybe what you need is an external pop-up blocker. I don't personally know a good free one, but my parents use one called "StopZilla" that seemed to stop their random pop-ups...

    Is it a certain time of day when the 404s (Page not found errors) appear on PC, or is it all day long?
     
    No certain time. Just when my PC has been on for a while, or as soon as I boot up. It's wierd, and annoying, and takes about an hour after I boot up before I can get here.
     
    If ya want a free po-up stopper, you couldt try this site its only a trail though, but it works...I think you can just download it again...?

    or you could download firefox too cuz theres a built in pop blocker

    sometimes when i come on PC it usaully says page cannot be displayed but it hasnt happened lately though it only does it to me like once in a great while i dont if what i get has to do with the 404s but PC sometinmes crashes and its only for me and i dont know why
     
    Hmm... I don't know anymore. I'll work on the other commputer later. For now, I'm just going to use my dads.
     
    I hate to double post but it's been about a week... I'm using Firefox now. So far, I haven't had many problems. Just every few days, it will say www.pokecommunity.com cannot be found or something like that. Anyways, thanks for the help!

    PS-I think it was IE because I had the same problem on my dads PC
     
    The best way I find to stop pop-ups is getting FireFox/Bird (I find FireBird better then FireFox because it don't take as long to load), it has the pop-up blocker in it and everything.

    And the past few days I was using IE for something and it is getting pop-ups, even on PC (and I am 100% sure PC is pop-up free) so it might be something in IE or something that is having all the pop-ups.
