Staff Feedback Thread

A thread I was visiting where people give their thoughts on the Switch 2 Direct had a couple of F and A words. Doesn't suit the mostly G rated content for the forums. Any plans to remove the use of those words on the site?

If you have concerns, it would be best to report the specific posts that contain excessive swearing.

However, I would like to note that we are technically a PG13-rated forum, not a G-rated one. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to register here. The relevant rule regarding swearing is "Please keep inappropriate language light and occasional", not "don't swear at all".

I thought I read the forums were supposed to be PG rated with minimal uses of language, and stronger words not allowed. Were the rules recently edited?

The forum-wide rules regarding swearing that I linked have not changed since the upgrade to XenForo in November 2023. Beyond that, we used to have an optional profanity filter that was disabled at the time of the XenForo upgrade, and the rules were slightly different to take the filter into account. Subforum mod teams can impose stricter limits on profanity if they wish, but the Video Games moderators have not done so.

We have made rules changes since then (primarily a ban on Generative AI), but none related to profanity.
