Well I was thinking about this for a few day and I wondered... how a pipsqueek like Starly is going to fly a 100 lb teenager around without fainting location to location?

What are some HM moves that Pokemon learn that don't make sense due to the Pokemon that you know of?

I wouldn't doubt it. Starly must have some strength if it could pull off a Brave Bird at only level 37.

How does the Oddish line Cut?

even worse is that doduo could learn fly in r/b/y (i don't know if it can now)

Doduo/ Dodrio with Fly. Yeah, it's a bird and all, but Charizard had wings and couldn't learn Fly in RBY, so why is a wingless bird able to Fly?

Oddish line with Cut makes sense to me; sharp leaves. Same with the Bellsprout line.

Aggron used Surf! How do you go in the water when you are weak to it? Linoone and Furret with Surf, too? They can carry you? It makes no more sense than Aggron with Surf.

And what about the ones that can't learn something? Nidorino/rina can't learn Strength in RB. Don't know about Yellow, but...they can't learn Strength? Mr. and Miss "I'm going to be a big strong Nidoking/queen when I evolve" can't learn that? What were they thinking?

Back to Doduo and Dodrio with Fly (because that makes the most sense out of my list) it looks stupid in the stadium games. "Hey, I'll just move my legs around and then I'll start to fly like a normal bird!" That makes about as much sense as me going on top of the roof and jumping off while flailing my legs around. Fail.

I think that actually, doduo/drio DO have wings, but they are very small and normally kept folded invisibly against their bodies. However, they'd never be able to fly the distances required so it doesn't make sense.

I've got another one - Moltres can use fly. Doesn't seem that odd, does it? until you realise that you're riding a bird that is ON FIRE and would set you ON FIRE as well.

    The comments are in there-
Doduo/ Dodrio with Fly. Yeah, it's a bird and all, but Charizard had wings and couldn't learn Fly in RBY, so why is a wingless bird able to Fly? Watch the episode of the anime with Falkner. He explains it.

Oddish line with Cut makes sense to me; sharp leaves Good call. Bellossom+Vileplume, though? and Oddish I can see.... Same with the Bellsprout line.

Aggron used Surf! How do you go in the water when you are weak to it Doesn't he stay on top of the water? The was like the Stadium animation or something...? Linoone and Furret with Surf, too Mammals can swim.? They can carry you Linoone can take down some pretty hefty pokemon. They've got enough strength.[/b]? It makes no more sense than Aggron with Surf.

Back to Doduo and Dodrio with Fly (because that makes the most sense out of my list) it looks stupid in the stadium games. "Hey, I'll just move my legs around and then I'll start to fly like a normal bird!" Yeah, that's bad -_-...what they do it jump so high that there's really no difference from flying. It's like what Blaziken does 'cept it doesn't Fly... That makes about as much sense as me going on top of the roof and jumping off while flailing my legs around. Fail.

EDIT: The anime explains the Moltres thing. Ponyta can be ridden because it only burns you if it wants to. If it's willing, its open flames can't harm you.

I don't watch the anime a lot, so I wouldn't know that aspect, and seeing that is is general gaming, I wouldn't see where anime would come in.

Bellosom has a skirt made of sharp leaves...? Or it's got deadly sharp petals. I don't know. And the Vileplume can still cut things up cause it's pimp like that. It has hands...maybe that's how. Gloom's got those sharp looking orange petals, so that covers Gloom, I suppose.

But still, Aggron's touching the water. Oh well, I'm guilty of teaching one Surf. Sorry, Lyle! And mammals can swim, yes, but Furret and Linoone don't look big enough to ferry a ten year old. -shrug- Oh well. SUPER POWERS!

Bounce would be more appropriate for them if flailing their legs keeps them up in the air.

I know it's wierd how Beautifly can learn Flash because it doesn't have Fire or Electric...oh and how almost all Grass types can learn Flash..

    M@g!k p0warz!!11!!

It also makes you wonder why most fire types can't learn Flash.

That's not unusual. Ever seen a lightning bug? That's where they get this from. Bugs who can use Silver Wind should be able to Flash 'cause it's a very similar technique.

    Silver Wind vs. Flash

Let's try a few Grass types.
Exeggutor--the same way Bronzor does. It glows one of its many 'heads'.
Skiploom-the same thing it does when it grabs a Solarbeam.
Lotad-I'd use the Solarbeam example again...
    Cradily-its tentacles probably glow.

You could argue for a lot of these.

Chansey and Blissey, known for having some of the lowest attack stats in the game, can learn Strength...

    buh?

Actally, I think they are in the same boat as Snorelax, where they just sit on top of the water.

The thing is, Snorlax isn't weak to water like Aggron and the Rhy line.

    ...Oh my.

how the hell can a lil bat like zubat fly any one

and i dont get how the rhy line can surf but they weak to it

I don't think Zubat can learn fly...I may be wrong though. My battling Zubat is usually evolved into Crobat by the time I get HM02 in-game. >_>

I do recall seeing, in the OP for the first season of the anime, a shot near the end of Brock's Zubat carrying Ash's Squirtle though. :P

But that's anime...and I think Zubat can learn Fly. I don't think it was able to in earlier games, but I think they changed it in DPPt. Same goes for Golbat, too. I think there was a point that it wasn't able to learn Fly.
