Basically, I haven't played my HeartGold version for ages, since there isn't really that much left to do for me. I was thinking about starting a new game but I really don't know if it's the best idea.

If I start a new game, I basically lose the 400 or so Pokemon I caught, traded for and obtained, as well as about 10 Pokemon I hand raised from low levels, and have won me many a battle in the Wifi world, all in their 90s, some of them even nearing the 100 mark.

On the other hand, I do want to experience it all again, choose a different starter and raise a different team, and also catch and raise other Pokemon along the way, so that once I've beaten Red, I have 100 or so Pokemon caught, not 40 ish.

I don't know what to do, so I'll let you guys decide for me. Should I start a new game? Yay or Nay?

what you do is trade the stuff you want to keep to like d/p/pt then restart. when you do restart go getting a shiny starter by saving in from of the machine with them then soft restart (L,R select and start) till you get the one you want shiny.

I was also going to suggest putting your most valued Pokemon onto another version of the game (such as Diamon/Pearl/Platinum) and then starting again. Or, if you have the spare cash, you could try buying Soul Silver new/pre-owned.

It depends, if you're a user of PokeWalker then I suggest you do not erase your save...
'Coz you can't not download all those event courses...
If you cherish those records you made then don't erase the save file as well....
As for your current Pokemon... You can trade them to your other game card.

    I wouldn't erase 'em if I were you... :(

Yeah, I was thinking about getting SoulSilver. Problem is even Pre-Owned the game is something like £29.99 in this area. That is actually within my price range, but obviously I have a life outside of gaming as well, which I also need to take into consideration when buying stuff.

And unfortunately, I don't have another DS to trade the Pokemon onto Pearl. Unless there's another way of doing it?

This may come as a surprise to you and many others, but I don't actually care about shiny's.

Well I was a sad person and bought a second DS, pre-owned from CEX. I mainly bought it to trade Pokemon from one game to the other, but I also welcomed the upgrade.

You could try sites such as eBay to buy Soul Silver for around £20.

As for the transfering, how many Pokemon are you looking to keep? As if it's a few you could ask someone you trust from here to transfer for you. Or, if you have a Gamecube/Wii you could use your Pokemon Collesseum/Revolution to trade them over. I've not played Revolution, but on Collosseum you could steal Pokemon and use them to trade.

I would say nah. Because you would loose all your hard work and it would be a complete waste of time. I did it once and it wasted me a bunch of time. Then in the middle of the game I got me a shiny nindorian female. :D I was happy I got it when I saw it. Well anyways good luck on your journeys. If you are planning on starting over can you send me the pokemon in your pc. I would really want them. And your kyroge legendary. if you caught it.

Well, you could use it as the main cartridge for a trading thread. But if you aren't getting any fun out of it you could try EV training, RNG abusing, competetive battling, or any fun post-game activities. If you don't want to or can't do any of the above and really want to make the besto out of your game, just restart it. And for any Pokemon that you would hate to lose, trade them to another game for safe keeping.

I would go for buying a second game... It seems like you've achieved A LOT in your game, and that's just not something most people would ever want to lose.

On eBay I got my game for around 16 dollars, I think, and I'm pretty sure they had A LOT in stock.

You can always trade your important Pokemon over to another cartridge. When you start a new game on your HG, you can just transfer the Pokemon in your other cart to the new game.

I usually make a point of not restarting any games (I've still got a save file on Red which is over 10 years old), but if it were me I would get the paired game seeing as it's nice to have a record of your achievement in HeartGold.

Legitimate copies of SoulSilver are going on eBay at around £22.99, whereas brand new copies are around £32.99 (including PokéWalker). Gamestation do pre-owned copies for £29.99 but only when they are in stock. If I'm honest, the price gap of £10 between a pre-owned and brand new isn't that big but that's really down to you.

i know how u feel im in the same problem as u. as iv done everything in the game i feel like starting again but i dont want to lose anything especially all he pokemon i caught so iv decided not to restart and keep everything like u i also have a life i dont spend all day sitting playing the game i really play 2 times a week. but if u have any friends that have the game then help them otherwise feel good about completing it and just start doing something else than playing hg or ss likemaybe go out with your freinds it will take your mind of the game so u dont get bored. if you do get bored then go wifi and show off your pokemon in battle. so in the end i say u shoudnt restart.

I'd say buy Soul Silver. That way you have another game to play on, and also still get to keep your other pokemon.

I would say nay. I regretted restarting my HG game. I lost all my Pokewalker courses and now I can get them anymore. =/

Only JUST started! OMG!!! Love it! :D

On topic, don't restart. Too much hassle of starting over, training, the same storyline you've face oh my daiz.
