Starting my collection

    Ok, so I'm getting back into collecting and I'm starting from scratch. I'm just wondering how I go about starting. It's been so long since I've collected Pokemon cards and everything has chnaged. New cards, new this, new that.

    What would be the best first purchase? :)
     
    This is pretty much repeating what the person above said, but if you are collecting from scratch, then your best bet is the theme decks.

    You might want to pick up a binder and some card pockets too, unless you still have those, but otherwise, it's easier than buying the booster packs separately.
     
    Definitely. I will be heading to Toys R Us and some local markets to see what they all have. Been having a look at different uboxings of theme decks on youtube just to get an idea of what is out there to. Not easy starting again and knowing very little about the cards! haha.

    I wish it was 7 years ago :( lol
     
    Yeah man. I feel for you because I started with PokeMon since I was like seven years old. I had the first cards that came out. I was an elite TCG Tournament player in my town and was one of the best. My mom threw away all of my cards at one point when we moved (all of my cards at that point were 1st edition and would be worth hundreds now). Then later like when I was 12 I started collecting from scratch again, then my mom did the same thing. Threw my cards away. And just recently I started again, a couple of months ago actually. And what I did was bought packs and looked hard to see if there were ANY cards around the house. I found some but I will never find all the cards that I ever owned. Buy a binder, sheets, deck box, protective sleeves, a Tin, a deck, and some new booster packs (4?). And if you can find a local tournament where you can go and win booster packs, or trade with the people there. There is my grain of salt do what you wish with it.
     
    Like ya style Matafy, spewing about the throwing out of the cards. Lucky that didn't happen to me I guess.
    But yeah, my shopping spree is tomorrow. I have about $450 to spend that I've saved solely for cards. So we'll see what I come out with. I'll definitely post some videos of the openings.
     
    Well, if you have that much money you can spend it on some good boxes and get like 2-3 lv.X's in each box.
    If you begin to play and you go to the big tournaments you will get ALOT of cards for free.
    Especially at nationals and regionals.

    So if you need any information on sets, cards, promos, theme decks, leagues give me a shout cause I know about every card.

    I did buy some cards today, however I didn't go on a massive shopping spree as intended. I only bought a Rising Rivals Theme Deck and a booster pack. I went to Toys R Us because it's the closest thing to me and that's all they had. If they had more of a range, I would of spent a lot more money and a lot more time seeing what they had. But that's all they had there so I figure it's a start.

    It would be pointless posting the cards I received as you all probably know what are in those decks, but if anybody is interested, I will post them up :)
     
    Go to Walmart for card sheets, as at least where I live they're cheaper.

    Also, Walmarts tend to have Poster Boxes which have POP series cards, so if you're looking for those, You can find them there.

    You should also look for a card or comic shop near you, they tend to be $1-$2 cheaper on packs, which can make a difference buying in bulk.
     
    I live in Australia mate so getting to Walmart might be a hard thing to accomplish lol
