Say I wanted to do a Wi-Fi trade with someone around the world and I had just recieved a Weavile.

Does the Wi-Fi system have a banning filter so you can't trade Pokemon with cuss words in the nickname?

Because I would be really unhappy if I just got an awesome Weavile, but had to face it's rude nickname every time its sent out into battle..

I mean, I named my Magikarp something rude, I'm just wondering if the trading system would allow it's trade to someone else.. I'm kind of hoping not.

. . . I don't know why people would bother naming them things like that at all. XP

Lol yea, remember how Pokemon is aimed at children, and if like an 8 year olds sees something like that on GTS, something might happen xD

I name my Magikarp with Magicrap, the owner must be pissed when he uses that Gyarados XD

This is why nicknames are not allowed on PBR VS random people. Since it is totally random, a kindergartener could be paired with a guy with Tiret's. XD

But I doubt there is such a rule with trading. If they had a word censor, they wouldn't need to hide nicknames on PBR.

Anyways, just breed the Pokemon if the name stinks. Or learn to live with it, I guess.

A kid would just laugh. Now if it was a parent the one who finds those nicknames....

Well, at least Nintendo can save itself thanks to the "Game Experience May Change During Online Play" message.

I don't really care what a Pokemon's nickname is. xP
My little cousin had a Dialga and named it, "your mom". Case sensitive.

No such thing as banned nicknames, doubt Nintendo thought about that

Cema used to have a Blissey named Fat Whore. That's probably the funniest I've seen (although Dialgay is pretty clever XD), bu it doesn't beat my old Snorlax's nickname: Fat Bastard.

I think we're highly underestimating a kid;s vocabulary here... basically, if a kid is old enough to read, that kid will know at least four of the "seven dirty words you can't say on TV". I mean, I knew those words from before I was in 4th grade.

    You are right.

And I was only speaking hypothetically about the nickname of my Weavile. It's actually in Japanese or something.

But I was wondering if I sent my Gyrados away and its called crapf*** then someone might get a bit cranky xD

As much as it as aimed at children, teenagers are more likely to use the game and make offensive nicknames.. I guess the children have to initially take trading around the world at their own risk to come across things like that..

Sometimes it isn't as easy as that.

For instance, if you have recieved a pokemon through a trade that can only be obtained holding an item, and its named something rude then you're stuck with it.

Living with the name? I shouldn't have to put up with a name like that in the first place, it really isnt fair..

I name my Magikarp with Magicrap, the owner must be pissed when he uses that Gyarados XD
I actually don't think there is a human being on this planet that hasnt named their magikarp that once in their lifetime. xD I know I do it every time!

    Quite simply, for kicks. =P

We can thank South Park for that xD

Guys, I'm pretty much talking about unobtainable version pokemon/rares/shiny/trade-only/hard to get pokemon nicknames here, not just your every day Pokemon nicknames.. half of them are ROFLworthy, like the Blissey's name (it's so true.). Sure, you can breed them out, but rare ones you plan to use and raise, is just plain annoying.

I hear a lot of kids say a lot of those words, they're like eight!

i was watching cricket at the park and this 5 year old kid got out and said f***

God that is funny, but also dissapointing.
Don't they really think about other people when trading? :P

/b/ has done enough already, basically everyone knows swears before I went to high school everyone at the primary school I went to knew at least the F word

There should be a filter so that when you send it if it's name is 'rude' then it should return to it's species name.
