A guy in my graduating class put the confed flag on his graduation ring XD
A lot of people in my school put the Mexican flag on their graduation rings when they graduate. They're Mexican of course and I don't find it rascist. Maybe it's because I'm Mexican.

People are so diverse nowadays. At one point, Cape Verdeans (which I'm part) and Puerto Ricans hated each other. Now there are so many Cape Verdean/Puerto Rican people. And African-American/Irish. and Portuguese/Vietnamese << My little cousin.

I don't think they are morons or any thing like hillbilly just becouse they like a flag or want to keep there familys ways in some part.
It is racest in how you all are talking about the flag and thoughs people.
I see no point in any of this.
True...I see a lot of black kids that couldn't really care if a person had confed flag or not. It's what the person does, not what their past is that matters to them, a flah is just a flag to show pride of something.

Diversity is a good thing, IMO.

So you say we're racist for being against racism? If their family ways, as you put it, support slavery and racism, then they have no right to endorse that! I wish I could make you grasp exactly all the horrors which the stars and bars stand for, but I won't bother. Look up some information on lynching and jim crow laws, for starters.

yeah it will be better if those racist people doesn't exist

You mean the idea should just lose its appeal, we don't want to murder them lol.

Yes you are right as well.
Just saying negative things about this just makes the people dislike thoughs people and all thats does is end up fighting.
Any Flag is just showing the pride of that person in something.
If someone had a US flag on their card or ect they most people don't think of all the wars the US been in and hate the person for that form that past.
This flag or any other should not be thought of as the past. Just that the person that ahs showing it is happy in that flag. Nothing els.

That's not what that flag supports though, at least not anymore. The people that still have it up use it to show that people in their family had fought hard for something they believed it, however wrong it may be, it's a sign of perseverance.

There's nothing racist about the Mexican flags on class rings...it's heritage ^^;

As for confederate flags, they stopped representing a nation 140 years ago and started representing an idea. It's only alright when it's used in a historical context, like during a Civil War festival or something <<;

No, it's still heritage, like it or not, it's the history of people's family. You don't see American's being condemned everytime they wave around an American flag because they took away the way of life of the Native American's do you? It's the same thing with this flag.

Oh thats all you can think of. If thats true then all flag of any kind that has a negative effect should up set you and thats almost every Flag out there.
I know the past of that Flag. I am not happy about it but that not what it means now. It is just a Flag of the South or of a family from the south.
Any flag has a past and you can look every Flag up to see that.
I have seen the wars made from many people that put a Flag to it. I see no point in you hating a Flag. What happens is far gone from now and to tie your negative feeling to a Flag is not right. You know none of the people that wear the flag so you realy can't understand. I never say i understand why any one wears a flag or any thing esl but i respect them in that they want to wear it.
With out repecte for every one there is only hate and hurting.

Flags are a symbol of heritage and something you should be proud of, not something you should burn or disrespect in any way. Racism is bad, but it sort of keeps the world in check in its own way, not that its a good thing. That's right we don't want to murder any racist people and we'll treat them like regular people, but sometimes we can't because they're just too ignorant to accept anything.

Also, Riho, do you know how to spell?

-_- every time i talk i get that.....
can i spell. I do typ to fast and spelling is not my best area. I do make mistakes and some times it is a lot.

I did not say that racist should be treated any diff or killed.... thats even worse. Just hard to be quite when someone starts saying things.

I wounder why i even talk. Someone always has to talk about my spelling. Try to make it better but ......*sigh* nvm.
I will leave so I don't make this drag out more than it should or have people go after my spelling.
If any one wants to talk to me in here just PM.
Later.

It's true that we did a lot of atrocities to the indians, but I doubt one person in America today waves the American flag with the intent behind the display being "I hate injuns and I hope they all rot in their reservations!" The government has never made amends, but all Americans feel guilt for their past.

Think about Germany--it's actually considered taboo and shameful to wave the flag anywhere in public except at a football game or speak patriotically of the country because of their past. Their banner represents their nation, but also represents their shame despite the fact that there are just a handful of people from Hitler's generation left alive.

It should be that way with the Confederate Flag--very few people fly the flag to say "I support my family's Confederate heritage" or anything like that. It's usually flown in defiance of modern convention or to say "I'll be a southerner until the day I die", and their definiton of true southerner is the same today as it was in 1950 or 1870. There's no shame in living in the south, gosh, a huge percentage of Americans do; what makes the difference is the blatant pride some people have in the dark past of the south. I just wish that the confederate flag was flown in a more respectful, subdued way than to have it everywhere screaming "The South Will Rise Again!"

Intent or not, ALL flags carry a bloody past. No country has won freedom without some form of war or death. America is no better, not all people who wave out the confed flag mean it to have the meaning of racism and such. Only the few who can't let go of the past, mainly the elders who are still stuck up in their ways of hate. There's having pride in being from the South and just being blind. Most that do wave the flag around are just doing it for pride and have no intent of saying that they represent hate and that people of a skin color should any better or worse than another.
