Super Smash Bros. Brawl - The Disappointment within

I love Lucario, and I hated Mewtwo as much as I wanted to like him. Mewtwo floated everywhere, and his control just felt too slippery to me. As for Lucario, his controls feel tight, he has some weight to him, and he seems to survive well for me. His aura sphere goes straight, which is a vast improvement over Mewtwo's monstrosity of a B move, and I fight completely different with him. I love how all of his attacks have that little extra bit of range to them thanks to the aura, and how he gets more dangerous the more danger he's in. His counter is a welcome addition, and his forward-B move is very cool. His b-jump is better, as well.

The only thing I don't like about Lucario is his item use: it's become normal. Mewtwo's item use was a spinning wheel of death, and Lucario's is just a smack upside the head.

I hate that people are so angry that Mewtwo was cut.

Over at Smashboards, people almost never talked about Mewtwo untill he was cut on Brawl.

Funny thing -.-

They were too busy playing as him! ^-^

Amen to that, Kylo!

Okay, okay, so they're not "100%" clones... but they still fit the bill as a "copy". Luigi I can forgive because he's Mario's twin and they're supposed to act alike. Same goes with other characters.
but the Mewtwo thing really feels "offensive" in a way that no one honors the classics anymore. Mewtwo was classic. Lucario feels like a cheap "okay, let's just get this Lucari-whatever it is in so we can promote Diamond and Pearl." advertisement. I think it's safe to say that all of us that grew up with the original batch don't really like this decision. To me it's like "improving" Yoshi's moves and replacing him with Toad. That's how random and unnecessary it feels to me.

I grew up with the original batch, and I'm very glad to see Mewtwo go. IMO, he was a sucky character.

Lucario is in no way a clone of Mewtwo, how you can even think that is beyond me.

*prepares pointless rambling*

Awesome drawing, first of all.

Unfortunately, not everyone was going to be happy when the final roster was announced. It's very easy to think of why.

Whether or not people like it more than others, depends on personal preference. Obviously, you wish Mewtwo wasn't forgotten/replaced, while others disagree, and are happy to have him out. I was happy that Marth was in it again, and yet, many people I see aren't, and usually make fun of him saying he looks like a girl or he's 'elegant'... not in a compliment way either. So I do wonder how certain ones make the cut... but when I heard what some dense people in the company thought what Zero Suit Samus meant... uh, never mind.

As for the clone thing, I'm sorry that I disagree as well. Mewtwo and Lucario are totally different, other than the Aura Sphere/Shadow Ball thing, as others have already said. Although, I liked how Mewtwo's held items would levitate in from of him when he picked them up... and the spinning light saber, and even though there are still 'clones' of other characters, they still have a different play style to get used to.

An example is Pichu. I never played him because it seems worthless since it hurts itself, but once I saw someone really play him, he didn't seem so bad. So, I also don't really think there are any 'bad' characters, it depends if you can play them correctly.

Er... point is, it's all personal preferences. As you say, "Snake, OWNS", I don't even know who he is really, and I'm not fond of him in it, and I didn't understand why so many people were excited over that.

But, Brawl is still a great game, with a lot of effort put into it, and we waited a long time for it. No game is perfect, and of course has disappointments... but that doesn't make the whole game crap, right? =)

*rambling over*

Listen, Lucario is not even close to the clone of Mewtwo, the only reason people are probably getting that idea is because of it's Aura Sphere

Lucario is more the character that's mixed, he is one of the only characters that can be used for both close combat and attacking from a distance. Mewtwo was only projectile, I laugh at you if you use him for close combat. Heck now, Mewtwo isn't even a good projectile user, he has Shadow Ball and.. Confusion at the least, deflecting other projectiles. Mewtwo is outclassed by mostly all projectile users in Melee, he was only put in for fan appeal. Lucario actually has some use in the game and has it's own fan appeal. What do you miss so much of Mewtwo? Just the fact that he is Mewtwo?

Mewtwo's Shadowball moves in a spiral, Lucarios moves straight. IMO there are no clones, they just feel similiar. You also have to cover the differences in weight class and K.O. potential. The standard and smashes are also quite different.

So.. what difference does it give if the projectile moves in a spiral? Nothing.

If I were to even mention weight class and K.O. potential, Mewtwo would automatically lose in both those categories (including Speed)

Funny how the SSB team took out all the Melee Clones (Pichu, Young Link, Roy, etc.), but actually ADDED a CLONE of MEWTWO into Brawl! Were they high at this point? Were they taking some sort of pills? I used to use Mewtwo in Melee almost extensively, and now I actually enjoy beating up Lucario and his ugly shorts (yes, the thing WEARS SHORTS!) because of this pure evil. It's tragic, really tragic. I'll be referring Lucario as "The Mewtwo-clone" for all future SSBB-talk. What nerve.

OH MY GOD This entire thread makes me want to punch somebody in the face. Mainly this guy.

Here it is: MEWTWO SUCKS. Sure, he was usable, but he was definitely on the bottom rung of the tier ladder.

Second, Lucario? A clone? You realize that they're not even close to being similar, don't you? The only similarities are Shadow Ball/ Aura Sphere and the floaty control. Outside of that, THEY'RE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. There are clones, granted- Link and Toon Link are pretty much exactly the same, and Falco is still extremely similar to Fox. But Lucario? No.

One word... Jigglypuff.

No. Jigglypuff was way better than Mewtwo, and is still pretty good. Hell, she was the reason I bet Event #51 in Melee.

*long winded post that is completely true*

Thank you.
