And with my poll vote... MAGIKARP COMES OUT IN THE LEAD! Seriously, the power of that amazing fish to get around continues to astound me! Take that, Feebas!
On a serious note, Metapod takes this one for me more for nostalgic purposes than anything else. It makes you work to get you to turn it into a Butterfree, and that deserves so serious respect IMO.

Definitely Metapod, it always reminds me of that Rock Harden game in the Kids Club part of Pokémon Stadium :D

Appearance-wise, I'd go with Metapod. It looks cute and cuddly, even though its not. xD
Battling-wise, I go with Swadloon. It can battle even as a Sewaddle, and Caterpie, well, has Tackle which is....not that useful. I do like them both, though. :3

Hmm this is inspiring me to make a bug team; Butterfree, yanmega, the garvantula, e Vespiqueen, Scizor and Beautifly... would totally suck thoug..

Yeah, actually, I would prefer Metapod. First of all, it evolves to one of my favourite bug pokemon butterfree; so it has my most preferred evolution family. <3 Also, I love the nostalgic that surrounds Metapod; I remember wondering around the Viridian forest when I was playing Pokemon Blue, and maaaaaan how I ruled with a Metapod! Those Bug catchers COULD NOT unlock the powers of it. <3 Well, it only knew tackle, harden and string shot, but...
Also, I do like its design better than Swadloons; TBH, Swadloon doesn't look very...interesting. Well, its okay, but, I prefer Metapods.

Swadloon. Even though it evolves later than Metapod, it can actually attack with STAB moves before it gets to its final form. If you get a Metapod in the wild, all it has is Harden; if you get a wild Swadloon, it has STAB Razor Leaf and Bug Bite to attack with. I also like how Swadloon is snuggled in the leaf.
