I really like how they gave Sinon her own episode, because it gives us the vibe that she is her own character and her story seems to be independent and doesn't rely solely on Kirito (at least not yet).
 
B-But I wanted to get to the gun x sword stuff asap. Character building episodes? What are those? Plis, only plebs watch those.

No, but seriously. The first episode was dull as all hell. Second episode was a little better. I like Sinon. She's much more attractive than Asuna or any other female character I saw during SAO tbh. :p

also netto plis don't put up your prick guards over here. its chaos over at MAL I'm sure (haven't checked, just got internet) but PC's a peaceful place so rest assured we won't irritate you or anyone else :3

Well... they need to fill the anime somehow... 2 volumes will be adapted really quickly.
 
Shinon seems interesting, I'm still confused as to why Kirito is still not in the game though - feels like they're just stalling for time. This episode needed some kind of story progression as well as the character building, it added nothing to the previous episode :(.

As I said, 2 volumes are a small amount =D They can't jump into the action immediately =D

Hm, whilst they do both have an edge (although Kirito's was on and off) they seem different enough to me. Kirito was very much a knight in shining armour, saving people for no real reason and getting himself in trouble. This is a girl who seems to be doing whatever suits her - I mean she's hunting 'monster hunters' in a player hunt group. She doesn't fit the standard 'hero' as well as Kirito.
 
I was wondering why she seemed to be taking the video game so seriously though. :| Do people really not smile while they're playing GGO? I know that the game has a ~bit~ of a more serious tone because you can make money but... it's not as if you're going up against real guns. And being strong isn't the only way to have fun while playing.

As a +1 for Shinon, though, I really do like her character design though.
