Okay, for some reason in the middle of me doing something in Seven the System Idle Process pops up in the task manager and hogs up my CPU.

How can I stop this from happening?

I am playing a game, running a screen recorder, running mozilla, running two instant messengers and am using them all. The SIP shouldn't be popping up, at all. :|

And yes I did Google it, for an hour all I got was "Do something then." :/

Maybe it's popping up because you have the Task Manager open?

I haven't had an opportunity to toy around with Seven yet.

Maybe you could try closing out of the process. See if that works (even though turning off System processes isn't a very good idea).

If that were true, then it would have never occurred without it being open which led me to open it up to see what the random lags were being caused by.

That sounded jumbled to me so I will say it again:

No. Because it lagging in the first place made me open up the task manager the next time to see what was causing the lag.

It could be a glitch with Windows 7. You'll probably have to wait until the first or second set of Seven updates comes out.

This happened in XP too, and Vista. Vista was smarter about it though. It popped up for a second realized it was a retard and closed.

The system idle process isn't really a process (despite its name), it's like a placeholder. It basically shows how much of your CPU is NOT in use. It's not actually doing anything OTHER than that, and it doesn't affect system performance at all. Also, it's always on, though it might be buried under a bunch of other tasks if you're doing a lot of stuff.

So it popping up in the middle of me doing something and consuming 90% of my CPU in two different operating systems, both just happen to be by Microst is just all one big coincidence..?

It could always have something to do with multi-cores. If most of the processes are running on the one core, then the other one will be barely used, hence the low usage. I'm only guessing, though. Just make sure you do a virus and spyware scan, because it could be a process posing as System Idle.

No, I think running a game, firefox, screen recorder and two messengers programs would be the cause.

It's not consuming 90% of your CPU, it's showing how much is idle. Here's a more precise explanation of what it does.
