Name: Arlie Slater
Gender: Male
Rank: Private
Class: Engineer
Age: 20
Starting Weapon: Mech Suit! ...And, to a lesser extent, a giant wrench. He can wield it without the suit, but it's rather heavy and wears him out easily.
Appearance: His appearance! ...But descriptions always help~
6'0" in height, 140 in pounds, a stature belonging to someone who works out, and typical peach skin, Arlie seems like he'd be your average guy. Until you look at his hair, which is red with black streaks and goes down to his waist. He always has one side of his face covered by his bangs, and never lets his hair out of a ponytail (doing so would be a safety hazard for him). His eyes aren't as odd, but they're violet-blue in color with no iris and almond in shape. And anything unusual? You bet! Arlie's got a birthmark on the left side of his right leg, though it doesn't form any particular shape unless looking at it as if it were one of those Rorschach tests.
When one thinks of an engineer, what comes to mind? Regardless of the response, Arlie dresses as he pleases. His top is actually just a dark red jacket, with some gray in the middle, white buttons aligning both sides, and large black sleeves with two white buttons on each sleeve. His pants are rather punk-like, as each leg has a red criss-cross. Arlie's shoes are boots a mechanic would wear. They're purple in color, and go up to his knees. Quite often one will find Arlie tucking his pant legs into his boots for safety measures. To top it off, Arlie wears square, giant, red goggles on his forehead, which usually cover his eyes whenever he's building or repairing something or in a dangerous situation.
Personality: If you're worn from battle and need someone lax to talk with, Arlie's your man. He's pretty chill when not fighting the enemy, even when building or repairing something. He never rushes anything, preferring to take his time. It isn't a surprise that Arlie's philosophy would be "Slow and steady wins the war". Of course, his carefree demeanor can be a bit troublesome at times, especially in serious situations. Arlie also has a tendency to fall asleep while working on something outside of battle, and it usually takes some sort of loud clamor to wake him up. But other than that, he's the type of person one would want to hang with. Arlie's extremely friendly toward any and every human (unless they side with the Pokemon or don't want to "win").
Now, in battle Arlie's anything but lax. He becomes extremely nervous, almost to the point of bursting into tears. He has little to no confidence on the battlefield, even if he isn't half bad. All in all, Arlie prefers working off the battlefield and supporting his fellow allies by building all sorts of gadgets for them to wield. However, there will be a few rare times where Arlie's confidence will shoot up, but such only occurs when fighting alongside females. There's a tiny speck of chivalry in Arlie while on the battlefield, and he'll make sure to protect his female allies at all costs. He doesn't do it to win them over; in fact, Arlie himself doesn't even know why it is he feels the need to protect them.
Give Arlie a wrench and a screwdriver, and he'll build a metal watch out of paper and string. OK, not really, but Arlie is
very enthusiastic when it comes to using tools to build or repair things. Even if he takes his sweet time, he enjoys every minute of it. And once he starts, it is practically impossible to pull him away from his work until he is done. In addition to that, Arlie loves using the mech suit, even if he hates battling with a passion. He claims the only reason why he'd even battle is because of the conduit that caused the second war to ensue.
History: Arlie grew up in Mauville City, the same city that was attacked by Mewtwo. The day he saw a mechanic fix one of the slots in the Game Corner (his father was a gambler and proud of it, to Arlie's mother's dismay) was the day Arlie knew he wanted to build and fix things. He learned many things from the aforementioned mechanic and eventually began to build and repair small objects. Over time Arlie managed to get better and better at what he did, to the point where he could fix all the slot machines in the Game Corner in a matter of seconds (well, minutes, really) if need be.
A little while after Arlie had turned 20 he found himself with a job in Rustboro City. He left his hometown and went to work. But as soon as he returned, Arlie found his home had been attacked. His family was all right, but badly scarred. They had apparently attacked Pokemon without any idea how they came to do such. Arlie had a feeling that the Pokemon were behind this mishap and wanted to blame the "attack" on the humans. The assassination supposedly confirmed Arlie's belief, and he decided that he would join the Human Republic.
However, Arlie was reluctant about battling. But his rage toward the Pokemon for what they had done was what ultimately caused him to choose to fight. Of course, anyone could imagine the look on Arlie's face when he learned that he could work for the Republic as an Engineer and didn't have to fight all the time. Arlie found this as a win-win situation: Get revenge on the Pokemon and improve his mechanical skills. Everything was perfect!
Password: Revolution! ...Idk if I needed this again or not but it doesn't hurt right?
