Tablet? Netbook? Notebook?

    I think I'm so selling my old laptop now. It's literally falling apart - creaky hinges, faded out keyboard labels, light leakage on screen edges, less than 1.5 hours of battery life, unreliable Wi-Fi, toasty CPU... I'm gonna sell it anytime soon! (And I checked and it seems to be worth less than $100. AAAAARGH!

    Now, what's a good choice for me when it comes to portable computing? (Having it within $700 range is a good idea, but I might end up being strapped for cash. Again.)
     
    Well it depends on what you want to do with it, first off.

    If you just like surfing the web and don't mind have a restrictive OS, tablets are nice. They are much cleanly organized, though. If you like surfing the web, saving files, doing a bit more of working type things, a netbook is good.
    If you need to honestly do anything worthwhile in terms of work, a notebook it is. While you CAN get by using a netbook, as I have, it's really stifling. That and I had to install windows 7 (they normally come with windows 7 starter, EUGH) to get it to do anything I wanted.
     
    with $700, you'll end up with a good laptop with an pretty sweet processor. It also depends on how you want in terms of specs.
     
    To point out what they said, yes, if you intend to use the full $700 a laptop is the best choice.
    Because I don't think there are even $700 tablets and netbooks?

    But I do always advise that you first look at what things you need to do. Such as now I am about to get an entertainment tablet, so I will not get a smartphone because that's a redundant waste of money. Just because you have a $700 budget does not mean you need to use it all. (Though, if it's parental money and they may not offer it again and well...if you're not very poor it might not be a horrible idea to get something expensive now. They're less likely to fork over anything when you get to college. If it is your own money however, I would recommend researching your needs very closely.)

    Also I actually have never used a Windows Tablet! I am very anti-iPad because I feel that Apple overcharges for coolness and conveniences, so please don't get an iPad, but I've never had my hands on a Windows Tablet. Android tablets, how ever, I think are pretty amazing and customizable.
     
    For some reason I was never a fan of iOS. XD

    I think I can get away with paying less because I think it's in the safe range.
