I smiled myself, a bit cheered as I started passing my own hand over hers. I winced as a white glow flickered into existance, my magical, emotional and mental batteries were completly drained. The spell went off without a further hitch, though. Healing magic was my speciality. When I was finished I said "The scar should fade in a week or two." For the first time I took in the frayed state of her garmets and asked out of pure kindness "Do you need a place to stay?"
"Righhhhhttt..." I drawled sckeptically. Either way, I decided to let her go where she would, finishing "Just be careful. There are probably more of...them...about." I'd always held to the old superstition that mentioning the Demonian race aloud just drew their attention. I finished with "Can I at least see you to your campsite?"
"Ah" I said, a bit discomfited. "Well, they're probably still about. I'd still like to make sure you make it to nightfall in one piece." The thought brought a twang of pain to me, I didn't think I'd be able to see another mangled body so soon after the last.
"Dont worry, I'll be fine. I have spent more then one night outside with those idiots wandering about", she replied, tapping the hilt of one of her knives.
"Alright, alright" I said, friendly as I could. "Just...live, okay? If you need any help I'm at The Dancing Duck inn under the name of McLasky." In my mind, though I came to an entirely different conclusion, resolving to follow her to ensure her safety.
"Okay, thanks for your help", Rose said cheerfully. "Bye!"
With that Rose exited ran out of the village, and didnt stop running until she reached the same rock she had rested by earlier. She hopped up onto the rock and searched the area for any signs of demonians. She saw none. Rose shrugged, and pulled out her two wooden knives. These are getting kind of dull....maybe I should make some new ones tommorow.... she thought.
I waited maybe a minute before creeping off in the direction the girl had run. I held my staff close in to my body and under my cloak, hopefull making myself less visible.
Rose jumped down from the rock, and stuck her knives into the ground. She bent down and pulled the two knives from the ground. The very tips of them were wet. Water... Rose thought, starting to dig with her hands. Soon enough water appeared in the hole she dug. Rose cupped her hands and dipped them into the water. She then began to drink. Its kinda muddy but it will have to do..... she thought.
I turned around, ready to bite the head off of whoever it was that'd said this. It turned out to be the priestess from earlier. My anger was not abated, though and I snapped "I just buried my brother. I'm not going to let them kill anyone else, particularly someone I just healed."
Once Rose was finished drinking the water, she buried the hole once again. She then crawled over to the rock, and leaned back against it. She was quite tired, and she fell asleep right away.
I left the priestess behind as I continued my walk, very nearly passing the rock that the girl was sleeping by on my way. The only reason I didn't was some freshly turned earth. After I found the girl on the other side of the rock, I started to search frantically for a good hiding spot.
A faint noise woke Rose up. She opened one eye. She saw the boy that had helped her heal the cut on her hand.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice showing no sign of anger.
I jumped up with a rather comical effect, startled and saying "N...no...nothing, just out for a late night walk, you know. Nothing but a ho hum late night walk."
