lol not always well if you have a mapper and scripter you could make a game with just those two all the others are nice touch ups :)

You're completely right, we should start on the main aspects of the game and worry about the other stuff later. Do you know any good mappers though? I'm in need of one more because PokeBoss went on vacation, plus it will be good to have an extra mapper anyways.


And another update guys: I said earlier that I was thinking about making this a series, so last night I decided it should be a trilogy, because trilogies are always awesome :D. I came up with the names for them, and I would like feedback please :)

The 2nd game(s): Corrupt Copper/Tainted Tin
The 3rd game(s): Burning Crimson/Drowning Cyan

Thoughts?

We also need to decide on a good ROM base. I was thinking Emerald, but Fire Red might be better. Need thoughts on this too.

I can see you have more than enough mappers, but I can also design Fakémon (not sprite, design) and YAPE edit.

I like your maps, welcome to Team Dream! The more mappers the better haha, that way the workload can be shared. Fakemon won't be needed though. A chatroom is actually a good idea, I might set one up this week.

Wait, what's the ROM base you're using, FRLG or RSE?
 
BTW do you have any more info bout the hacks you were talking about? Like...concepts? Anything? Word on the street is I can develop a solid story =)

And also, since my style might differ from the others, feel free to, when I finish my map, add a few touches here and there to match their style, or vice versa.
 
I think we should do a FR rom thats which one I can do the titlescreen for., im sure i could do it on emerald too i just already know how on FR=]

Glad you asked, and it's good that you can develop a solid story because I might need a bit of help! XD

Anyways this first game takes place in the region of Shinto, which is north of Johto. The main protagonist (Nathan, or Dahlia if you decide to be female), live in a small forest village south of the first main town, Limestone City. A number of strange occurrences have been going on throughout the region. In certain towns, the sun never goes down, and vice versa. The main villainous team, Team Hypnos, is using the powers of Crescellia and Darkrai to keep the either the sun (Daydream White) or the moon (Nightmare Black) up. When this happens, the people of the town will be placed under a mass hypnosis, and they will either be daydreaming or having nightmares. Team Hypnos wants to put everyone in a dazed state so they can barge through town and steal everybody's positions, including their Pokemon. (However, none of these will events happen until about midgame).

As for the other two hacks I talked about earlier, we only really have to worry about slightly developing the story for Corrupt Copper and Tainted Tin, because it is a prequel to the game we are currently developing.

That's the base of the story, I would love somebody to add or take away things that they don't feel is right :) And okay, but I'm sure your style will probably fit into the game without any need of modifications.


@Murklurk You do have a point. Lets see what everybody else wants to do and then we'll come to a decision. I'll also change my vote to Fire Red, because JPAN's hacked engine could help us alot.

..Is that named after the ruins? Cos that place is called Sinjoh xD

Yes the day/night effect will be added :) Seasons would be nice too, but we don't have to push it lol. And oh crap, I forgot about the Sinjoh Ruins. I just wanted to come up with a name that was "Johto related". We can change it though. Here's a list of regions that I already had. We can vote from these, or you guys can add your own suggestions:

- Linsoh
- Rindol
- Varisia
- Perim

Yeah but that name won't fit into our game. The ruins were called Sinjoh because people from Sinnoh and people from Johto worked together to make it (something like that). Since our region isn't Sinnoh, it shouldn't be called Sinjoh. I personally think Shinto or Shintoh fits, but your opinions count as well :)
 
i can script a lot better on FR, but its your choice, it would just meen i would have to learn new commands for Emerald.

I don't want to make anything harder for anybody XD. Plus we'll have more perks when it comes to using Fire Red, so Fire Red it is :)

Okay sure =) I think we should tweak the existing FR tiles, maybe add a few Emerald-style perks =)
I don't like 4th gen tiles though, I can never work with them

i think we should deffinately put in a new lab and a new gym, because when i see a hack with those tiles i immediately think the one with new ones will be better, but thats just my opinion :)

we could use those gym tiles, but only the gym ones...I can't really work with gen 4-looking hacks
