I hope she was able to have had a happy new year lol.

A "BLACK Widow" suicide bomber who planned to detonate explosives in central Moscow was killed when a spam text message from her mobile-phone company set off the device early.

News of the botched New Year's Eve operation emerged yesterday as Russian security sources said they had identified the suicide bomber who killed 35 people at a Moscow airport last week.
He was a 20-year-old man from the North Caucasus, a spokesman for the national investigative committee said.
It was also revealed that the explosive belt the man was wearing had been remotely activated. Terror attacks in Russia have ramped up during recent years, with suicide bombings becoming more common.
The "Black Widow" bomber, who has not been named, had intended to detonate the explosives in a busy square on January 31.
But a spam message wishing her a happy new year caused it to go off earlier than planned, instantly killing her but not harming others, security sources said.

The woman had been at a safe house in Moscow with two other bombers when the device exploded.
Mobile phones are often used as detonators by Islamist terrorist groups in Russia.
A "handler" who watches the bomber as they move into the target area sends them a text message to detonate the explosives.
The phones, which have not been previously used, are usually kept turned off until the last minute.
The woman's handler has been named as Zeinat Suyunova, 24, whose husband is in prison for being a member of a radical Islamist terror group.
Security services believe the failed bomber may have been part of the group that targeted Moscow's Domodedovo airport last Monday.
Thirty-five people were killed and hundreds injured when explosives were detonated in the baggage hall.
Both groups of bombers may have been part of a squad that was trained at al-Qaeda camps in Pakistan.
Immediately after the airport attack, investigators blamed militant Islamist groups from the North Caucasus, which includes the republics of Chechnya and Dagestan.
For more than a decade, radical Islamic groups have been fighting for an independent "emirate" in the North Caucasus, a region that has long been plagued by poverty and high unemployment.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered Premier Vladimir Putin to put forward proposals for improved security on public transport throughout Russia.

It's a shame that she died, but still, better her than thousands.
She could have ended up causing a lot of people to lose their lives, ironically, she was the only one that died.
The scary thing about all of this, is how fast the extremist movement is spreading.

I really don't think this is any reason to say "oh what a relief, no one else died." A woman was killed because of text message. It's rather sad. Terrorist or not, still a human being.
Yeah but the woman was going to die anyway. This way she didn't take countless innocent people with her.

Honestly, I have no pity for this.

I mean, I'm not saying I wanted her to die, but I feel like, you know, she had every intent to murder dozens of people for S&Gs DAT TERROR.

Seriously, I'm with the OP. "I hope she had a Happy New Year, lolz."

And that doesn't change the fact that someone died of a "Happy New Year's" Text message. Did that inadvertantly save lives, well yeah it did. But for a human being to die because of a insanely stupid and pointless reason is a loss in itself. Now granted, she was a terrorist, so she knew full well what she was getting into.

A woman wasn't killed because of a text message. A woman was killed because of her decision to be a suicide bomber... I really don't see that as an argument why someone shouldn't be happy someone looking to blow up a busy square and all the innocent people there didn't end up exactly as planned. Sure people are going to grieve the loss of her, but she decided to become a suicide bomber, so I can't say I feel any pity for her. I do feel pity for the people in her life that were affected by this decision but grieving the loss of a terrorist isn't something I'm going to really do. *shrug* :/

I'm not greiving for a terrorist, but what I was trying to say is that it's still a terrible, senseless way to die. She made the conscious decision to become a suicide bomber, so she knew full well what was going to happen to her. She made that choice. What I find sad is the senseless loss of life because of misguided, ignorant religious beliefs, that are actively perpetrated by Radical, Fundamentalist Islam.

Still no reason to be happy that someone died; even if they are a terrorist, someone will end up grieving over the loss.
But the fact is she was going to die anyway!!!! The people are happy that she died the way she did because otherwise she'd have died and killed numerous civilians.

When I read the title, I was like ":O no wai dude, no wai!!!!". But then I figured it out. xD

I have a neutral reaction to this. Yes, I know that the girl is going to die anyways but its still a loss of life. Her family would be not happy with her loss. Then again, why did she use a cellphone that others know her number? Heck, she could've used a new one! So I'mma be neutral to this stuff.

    Thank you, I completely agree.

No one deserves to die. There is nothing funny or good about death. Unless it's Hitler. There aren't many Hitler's out there, and she definitely wasn't one of them. Just a nut-job.

Even if she was intending to kill others, there's still the chance that she could have changed her mind before actually going ahead with this. It's a slight chance, but hey, we can't really see into what could have happened, but... I'm just disappointed that she died in that way. Glad she didn't kill people, but there's still the possibility that she could've backed out, got rid of the mobile phone (or let it explode somewhere, where it won't hurt people).

Idk I guess I should see this in another way, but really, it makes me sad that her life was cut short before she had the change to change her mind.

Better one than hundreds or more.

    I have no sympathy.

That is if I'm reading this story correctly. I'm not entirely sure. Because at the start it says man, and then at the end it says woman. So, I don't know.

She has a phone in her possession that's rigged to explode and you still think she'll back out? Sure it's possible but you can't honestly tell me that you thought she would have.

Assuming she knew it was an explosive. Terrorists use civilians all the time, by planting things such as this on people in hopes that when it explodes they'll be in a populous place. It's much more common for this to happen than someone going in and blowing themselves up, or planting bombs there then leaving.

You know what pick-pocketing is? This is reverse pick-pocketing. Again, I can not stress enough how common this is among bombings.

Let's say I was a terrorist. Obviously I am a psycho. I have a friend over, now, when they're not paying attention I slip a cell phone bomb into their purse. Then they leave. I will see it as, "It doesn't matter if my friend dies, as long as other people do too."

Well if she didn't know what it was then she would have just kept the phone anyway thinking it was normal. So there would be a 100% chance that she'd have died.

Am I sad that a human life was lost? Yes.

Would I rather that this terrorist die in this manner than be able to take the lives of countless innocent people? Absolutely.

As unfortunate as it is, the alternative had this not happened would have been a lot worse.

I don't see how that is an argument against what I said. Unless you're agreeing with me.
