4th Gen That Is One Big Book O_O;

At Gamestop/EB Games, how much does the guide cost exactly? I just watched the video, and holy **** that thing is huge! I love guides, as I don't need to sit at my uncomfortable computer desk and play games. Instead, I can relax with a book in my hands, and the DS in the other and play and just quick look for tips. I love the pokedex crap in the back honestly. :D

I wanted to get that Giratina Figurine but I downloaded the game. (let's hope that if I pass by the store, they have spares and start giving them away) I always buy the guides, even though I can look it up on the pc, because you never know when you might need to know something and you don't have internet access at that moment. (I haven't bought the Platinum one though, but I'm looking forward to getting it) I can't even call that a guide, it looks more like an encyclopedia or the science class book I had last year!

Wow. That IS huge. It's worth paying for too, and helpful.

Does it contain base stats of pokemon, if any of you even know what those are -_-

I know what those are : )

It does, in a way.
Instead of writing numbers, the editors decided to rate the stats on a scale of one to five, using black circles to represent a number.

Confusing, but simple.
The real numbers would have been better, but you can find the base stats on the computer anyways.

Well today I went to Gamestop to buy it for the person in the pokemon collectors community. Holy shits it is huge! It weights in at about 2 lbs so that's going to be hard on the shipping. Anyways I was looking through the sample one they had open, as the rest are sealed well. It looks nice and in a sense I do sort of want it but I don't have a job so it'll have to wait.

As for the game bundle I traded my figurine and carrying case for some pokemon kids instead. Giratina just isn't my cup of tea.

I don't think this picture does it justice:

It makes the guide look 1/4 as thick as it is.
Anyways, I'm going to gamestop soon to pick it up.

The store had the guide out in the open when I went to buy the game, and I didn't even realize it was one book. I thought they had like half a dozen piled on top of each other, haha. I never buy game guides, though, because I prefer to get information from the internet. :P

I really don't see the point of buying a guide after they invented Google.

I agree with this, which is why I turned down the guide when I bought Platinum at GameStop. I wasn't offered a figurine tho :\ Wish I had been. The best 'giveaway' I saw however was from KMart, they were giving away DS cases and I think more.

I might end up buying the guide tho regardless.

Whoa!!!!! Is that the largest guide in pokemon history! What can it possibly have in it....hmmm

I've never seen a bigger guide

I had already heard about the guide before I went to the store to pick up Platinum, but I was thinking of something bigger than what the guide actually looked like, haha. When I saw it, I was like "Jeez, can they make this thing any thicker?" I wish I could've bought it, but my mommy said no because I can look it up online. :(

Really? The $10 I gave ($5 for the game, $5 for the guide) went towards the game, so all I had to pay on the release date was $30.00(+tax) for the game, and $12.00(+tax) for the guide ($42.00 all together+tax).

Whoa, are you serious? Where I went, the figure cost $5, $40 for the game, and $20 for the guide... Also, everyone I've talked to who has the guide seems to be pretty satisfied with it, so I decided to buy one for myself. My mom is currently at the store. I just hope that it's actually helpful, otherwise I wasted $20 that I was going to spend on a new DS.

Hey, this is a little off-topic, but since you mentioned the DS, I was wondering... Will there be a 'lite' version of the DSi? I always go out and buy the new model before they make a 'lite' version and I get the older model. (Phat DS...)

So should I wait?

I bought the book with the game as well. The guide is really helpful it tells you how to get through all the caves even the distortion world.

I just bought it with gift cards from Best Buy =)
I was born to be a an editor, so let me point out a mistake they (the writers of the guide) made. Check out page 34, under the section where it tells you what Pokemon you can fish for. Great Rod? Interesting.... Isn't it Super? =p
You know, there is a Great Rod. Right.
