"Ruu!" Miki yelled, as she heard Ruu's cry from being wrapped. She wanted to recall her, Ruu was already so tired last night and she didn't want to tire her anymore. "It's oka-"

Miki saw Ruu shake her head, telling her that she still wanted to battle. Miki nodded and continued on their battle. "Ruu, bite Dratini!"

Ruu did as she was told and bit the Dratini wrapped around her. She continued on biting him and waited for him to loosen his grip on her. Miki watched as Ruu continued on attacking. It was already night and she noticed Ruu fighting her eyelids than wanted to close.

"Ruu..." She whispered worriedly.

Nat smiled thoughtfully. "I told you, that's my own fault. When I battle, nothing matters to me but winning. It seems so stupid and wrong now, but in the heat of a battle, it's like something else takes over."

She knew she'd already said that, but she tried to drive her point home with a small story. "I battled against my Mom and Pounce once. Pounce had scratched and slashed Ruby so bad she almost bled to death. I couldn't even see how badly she was hurt then...."

She trailed off. "That's why I don't battle very often, and half the reason I came to this Academy. I need to stop this habit of needing to win."

Nat looked around solomnly, then sat on her bed. She rolled up the leg of her pants and yanked off the constricting brace that covered the slim appendage. She tossed the confining combination of metal, fabric, and velcro off to the side before continuing.

"As for Blaze, I'm only happy to care for it, as it was my fault he's in this state in the 1st place. I've got a knack for dealing with injured Pokemon, which is a good thing because I plan to become a breeder someday," she said quietly as she pulled her pant leg back over herself.

She blushed then, having never said so much at once since the death of her parents.

"It's as much my fault as it is yours." I said as I sat beside her. "It takes two to fight. If I had just pulled him out when I saw he couldn't handle it, then there wouldn't have been a problem. So if anything, we are both at fault." I said to her. "So don't beat yourself up about it." I said, placing my hand on hers comfortingly. " And you will be a fine breeder some day, I'm certain of it."

Nat felt his hand cup around hers, and a strange mixed emotion came over her. She pulled away gently, not sure what to think or feel suddenly.

Blaze had stolen her heart last year, being the 1st to really understand and know her, the 1st to show any emotion other than a small amount of friendlyness tword her. Now, Sean was making her heart flutter in the same way that Blaze had done not that long ago.

She shook her head gently, clearing it of these thoughts, though they came back, nagging at her mind.

"Blaze should be alright now. You can take it with you if you'd like..." she murmered, keeping her eyes downcast, though her heated cheeks gave away much of the emotions she was feeling.

"That's fine," Nat voiced quietly, still keeping her eyes on the floor. "But, you should probably get some sleep as well. It's not just Blaze who's going to have a big day tomorrow..."

" Okay." I said standing up. Jsut as I opened the door, I turned back to face her. "You know, you nicer than you think, and I really like talking with you. and I hope we'll be able to talk some more sometime." I said. I then headed out the door back to my own dorm, trying to understand the sensations I was feeling at the moment.

By this time in Blazes' life, he towered over me, and wasn't aloud to roam the corridors of the Academy. "Hey Blaze?" I started as we walked in the fields surrounding the back of the academy.

Blaze stopped and tilted his head. "How about going for alittle ride?" I continued.

Blaze thought for a minute, then knelt down, obviously confident he could hold my weight. I hopped on right behind his whithers and I said, "Come on, let's see how you compete with a Rapidash."

Blaze huffed, obviously think he was superior to any horse type pokemon. He got up shifting his shoulders to adjust my weight.

He sprinted off as fast as he could trying to prove that he could beat any Rapidash.

Finding my courage I finally said, "Extreme Speed, now!"

And as if breaking the sound barrior Blaze took off at an incredible rate, twisting and turning, age and experience, granted him the balance to perfect every move.

At the end of the ride my hair was standing on edge, and my eyes looked like they were about to pop out of their sockets.

"That was incredible, Blaze..." I mouthed as I hopped off Blaze still flabbergasted by the experience.

"We haven't got to test out your powers yet have we, buddy?" I said with a spark in my eyes, obviously ready to test Blazes legendary arcanine powers against someone.

Blaze howled with excitement and then trotted around the perimeter of the shool, looking for his first victim.

Nat sat back on her bed, flopping onto the comforter. Many strange thoughts and feelings raced through her mind and body. She had no idea why, and she felt guitly about them as well.

She fell into an uneasy sleep, wondering what the next morning would bring.

After finding no success with anyone willing to battle, I went back to the dorm, finding Sean ready for bed. "Hey buddy!" I said cheerfully.

Somehow guessing what went on with Nat and Sean I said, "I see you two are getting along well." I said this hinting at something more indepth then just friends.

I was startled awake when Blaze entered teh room. Uh, hi." i groaned, rubbing my eyes. " me and Nat are getting along fine, thanks for asking." i said. " Now I need to get some sleep now. I have an important test tomorrow." I said as I lay back down.

I shrugged and laid in my bed, falling asleep almost on impact.

The next morning, I woke up before Sean, and walked down the corridor, to see if Nat was ok. But I thought better of it. They had seemed to be growing apart, and even though I hated that fact, another part of me was ok with that.

Instead I headed to my first class, skipping breakfast, but Sparks insisted on staying at Nats door until she woke up, so he could see Ruby again.

Nat awoke slowly. Her eyes fluttered open because of the sun peeping through her open window. She groaned and threw her head under her pillow.

She rose after being prodded by a hungry Ruby. Nat smiled to see that she was alright. The shoulder wound she'd recieved from Blaze was still open and needed to be covered, so Nat replaced the bandages before tending to the sleeping Torchic on the plushy pillow.

After all that was taken care of, Nat stepped on the scale as she did every morning.

101 stared back at her.

The teenaged girl shuddered before heading to her bathroom. She showered and dressed, pulling on a once flattering pair of jeans and a midriff showing tank. The girl's face contorted as she saw the base of her ribcage poking from the bottom of the top. She tore it off and pulled on a light yellow halter. Her bony shoulder blades were now visible, and she had to pull a belt on to keep her jeans up.

She picked up Blaze and headed to the cafeteria, ordering two bowls of pokepellets and sitting down. She sipped absently at a bottle of water, staring off into space again.

When I woke up, the first thing I thought of was how Nat was doing. I got up and got dressed, then headed down to her room. When no one answered, I headed down to the cafateria to see if I might see her there. I saw her with the pokemon at one of the tables and waved to ehr as I walked over.

Nat waved back, being snapped from her trance. She smiled as Sean came over, a Pokeball on her usual white belt glowing gently, as Fang popped out.

The Houndoom growled a bit as Sean appraoched. He was, as always, protective of Nat.

"Raichu!" Sparks said happily walking behind Nat, waiting for Ruby to notice him. Entering the cafetria with Nat, Sparks hopped up beside her, and looked at her as if to ask "Where's Ruby?"

Meanwhile I was in "Advance placement Battle strategies and tactics" class waiting for class to start, hoping that they would pair up and battle that day so he could use Blaze in a real battle.

Ruby smiled at Sparks, announcing her presence. The bandage around her shoulder area was stained with blood, though the Raichu paid it no heed. She hugged Sparks tightly, exclaiming a greeting of "Chu!!"

"Rai?" He asked looking at his shoulder.

"Raichu Rai rai chu!" He said as his face grew dark and his cheeks sparked. The question he asked was, "How did that to you? I'll make sure that the creep never walks again!"

He knew, of course that he wouldn't even hurt a fly, even Ruby knew that, he was just pretending to be tough.

"Absol..." A small voice cryed as Abby tripped over a table leg, a tear of pain came from her eyes, as she tryed to struggle to her feet.
