Tales of Symphonia! (if you didn't see this coming, shame on you!) Not the Wii one though. That's Dawn of the New World. You want the one for the Gamecube.

There's also Tales of the Abyss for the PS2 and 3DS (You're an Aussie, so unless you wanna import, only the 3DS is available. I know that because of Ryuryu.), Tales of Vesperia for the 360, and soon there will be Tales of Graces F for the PS3. There's also older Tales of Games you can look into, like Eternia and Phantasia, and there's also the Spin-Off Tales of the World games. But Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia, and (when it comes out) Graces F are the top four I would currently recommend.

Tales of Phantasia. Much better than Symphonia IMO despite it being for the GBA (but I think the characters and music are better; the battle system sucks but it's the mothership title so what do you expect...oh and technically speaking despite being the mothership title for the entire Tales series it's a sequel to ToS). ...Though, good luck finding it. The same could go for ToS too, since it's one of those games that will only be bought by die-hard fans and thus rarely sold. Its popularity/gameplay gives fans all the more reason to hang onto it.

Personally I found the Phantasia characters pretty bland and I couldn't get myself to continue playing after I couldn't figure out where I needed to go next. Also there was the lack of multiplayer in Tales of Phantasia, and I spoiled myself so much with multiplayer in Symphonia I just... have no motivation to play it. The same goes for Legendia, except for I think it was just me stop playing it, and not having the motivation to pick it back up. If I ever do get the chance to get any future Tales of Games, they're definitely going to be played with at least my sister around. She doesn't have to necessarily be playing it since she didn't really play Abyss with me when I first beat the game, but she has to be around to comment and enjoy the game with me.

Also I looked at the ending for Phantasia, and I was just all '... well. okay. That's... interesting'. /shrugs.

I have yet to see the ending for both Phantasia and Symphonia so I can't say anything 'bout that. And because I'm an only child I can't really do multiplayer that often and so I can't say I've experienced that either (not to mention none of my friends irl have ever played Symphonia, let alone heard of it).

Pokemon is an awesome series. And with so many characters whose personalities are undetermined based on little dialogue throughout the series, you can have all sorts of possibilities!

As a teenager, I decided to follow in my sister's footsteps and gain an interest in Chinese cartoons and surpass her.

You want bad? Look up Gardevoir + rating:Explicit on 'Booru. And if you have a Pixiv account, make sure you set your age to 18 and turn off the 18+ filter and search for サーナイト ("Sirknight", a.k.a. Gardevoir) on there... Surprisingly, I've only done the former, not the latter.
