I'm in highschool...people would steal them to use :S I gotta use a backpack, well they make us pay $20 if we want a locker :S

I always carry my backpacj with me except when we go to assemblies.

Assemblies? The special time when the milkbar has no queue :)
I take my bag to assemblies. Year7-10 get told off if they take their bags :/ Many an unfair detention cuz of bags :¦

Yeah, most of highschool is unfair.
I remember how I got suspended for something I didn't even do.

Lol, what!? That must be horrible. We get our lockers for free, but if we want a lock, we have to pay $5.00. (which isn't horrible seeing as we'd have to buy a lock from the store anyway; and most do)

At my school, we're all given locks; and the deans have a master key for all of them. XD
I go to a private school so everything on campus is able to be searched, even cars.

wow thats quite a strict school. at my school we used to have lockers but they never got searched. i didnt own one personally but i know a lot of people who did.

Our lockers didn't have a master key, but about twice a year they would lock the school down. While we were all stuck in our classrooms, the police would come in with their sniffer dogs. Whenever the dogs smelled something suspicious, the cops would then cut open the nearby lockers and give them a searching.

When I was in grade 10, I was one of the unfortunate individuals who had my locker broken into in this manner(which is quite rare as they usually just do it once or twice, if at all). Apparently there were some "illegal substances" found in one of the lockers next to mine. >>

O.o That seems pretty drastic...

We always had police on duty at our high school. I don't think anyone ever had their lockers broken into, but I'm sure people were stowing some less-than-healthy things in them. XD

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of my precence. My partner has been up visiting and I have'nt had time to get online much. I'll be back into the swing come this weekend.

Police on duty all the time? Now that is something that I find pretty drastic....

We only had the police show up to perform these searches, which as I said was only like twice a year at most.

And on this subject....is it true that all/most American schools have metal detectors? XDD

Well, I went to a really upper-crust private school before I was homeschooled/virtual schooled, so naturally we didn't have metal detectors. In fact, I doubt any of the teachers there would have cared if you brought anything dangerous into school XD;

My school has lockers, I dont know how much they are or if they are free, I really dont need one.

Metal Detectors? My school doesnt have them, I'm quite doubtful many schools in our country have them.

Here was I thinking we'd be talking about the US election.

Yeah, I kinda expected to walk into a conversation about the Election as well. xP

When I was in High School, everyone was given a locker for free. The locks were built-in to the door, instead of being a separate part. Every so often (maybe once a month?) they would make an announcement for the teachers to shut their doors and keep all students in the room. Even though they wouldn't come right out and say it, everyone knew right away they were bringing the dogs in to search.

Course, we wouldn't have really been able to function without our lockers. Thanks to one of our teachers tripping on a backpack and breaking her arm, all backpacks ended up getting banned in my sophomore year. QQ

At my old school. We had bomb threats all the time. But, it usually was just some highschool kid who was just threatening just to get out of school. We never had a bomb go off. I don't even know why the school took it seriously. Oh, and they would suspend you if they saw you with a pocket knife. In fact in the 80's my brother got kicked out of school because he was carrying a pocketknife.

o__o;;

That's... really stupid. Did they somehow think it was the backpacks fault or something? >_>

Anyway, I don't think we've ever had a school-wide locker search, but there are some students who occasionally get their's broken into. And we've usually got a couple cops in the building at all times, so bringing anything illegal to school probably wouldn't be the best decision.
