Oh, we were doing that on IRC the other day. IT WAS PAINFUL. They were perfect examples of the personal attack thing, too. It's like people think it's their personal platform to rant at random people on. I wish they'd keep it to MySpace and bother posting quality definitions.

That's not what I'm talking about though...I'll tell you on MSN. XD It's not that people rant or anything but just pointless meanings to peoples names that really, dont make any sense.

I'm assuming that Urban Dictionary will eventually turn into a satirical encyclopedia site, much like Uncyclopedia and Encyclopedia Dramatica.

Although I have to admit, there's a bit of racism going round UD...xD

Exactly why I say that Urban Dictionary is a blight on real dictionaries.

You use a dictionary to define a word, not to attack people's names. It makes you wonder just who is in charge of maintaining the site...

I honestly think nobody. There's so much trash on there, no quality control, and I don't even think there's a report option.

You're kidding. The difference between sites like Uncyclopedia [which is pretentious fail for the sake of being politically incorrect] and Encyclopedia Dramatica [which is tasteless lulz with a few funny people and mostly just /b/tards spouting memes] is that they're not meant to be taken seriously. A lot of people on ED make fun of groups they belong to.

As for racism, try every form of discrimination.

Obviously if there was any control, they would be making sure everyone paid attention to rules.

I suppose UD can be useful if it's something so garbled that Wikipedia or Dictionary.com won't list, but why would you want to know what it means, than? I happen to have befriended several /b/tards with some sense, as well, who handily translate for me. :3

Except for the fact that they aren't encyclopaedias. They are satire; they're not supposed to be compared to real encyclopaedias.

The problem with ED is that everybody takes it seriously and gets hurt -- forgetting that they're basically doing what ED expects them to. Yes, people think ED is their personal army and platform for hate speech, but its original intent is not to be an encyclopaedia but a documentation.

As for Uncyclopaedia, that site just sucks.

LMAOOOO Encyclopedia Dramatica actually makes my day because everyone makes such a big deal out of it, it's just like, you need to speak LOL dialect to be kewl there. xD

Encyclopaedia Dramatica is run on wiki software, so other people eventually correct the article to make it funnier and classier, and it does have administrators, etc.
 
Wiki After Dark makes my day too...>>; Kind of odd, but I find it immensely amusing that there is a sex encyclopedia like that...
