I've always tried not to have "n00bish" names. (Though in some cases, I failed.)

I started out on the internet when the world wide web was in its child stage - around ten years ago. XD You know, when dial-up was awesome, and people used Geocities and Tripod all over the place? I remember, because my parents bought our PC when I was eight, and we got dial-up about a year later.

In all of my years on the internet(4-5), I never knew why people thought geocities were awesome.

Eww, dial-up. I hate having my phone connection to not work so I can get such a slow load time.

We only got ADSL broadband in my village like three and a half years ago. Even now it's only 1.1Mbps. =x

I did okay with dial-up. It was all that was available at the time, anyway. >>

And I only have GPRS and EDGE on my BlackBerry. You cope with it, when you have it.

Oh man. 1.1mb?
My mini modem for my laptop is more than that! xD
Hope you're all entering Poem of the Week yes?

I'm not entering poem of the week no.
I have a silk tongue, but not the talent of creativity.

I'll be entering Poem Of The Week, yesh.

O___O" "Village"? Whoa.

I wrestled with Dial-Up for like 7 years. T__T Then last year we got Satalite. Which is worse. T__T Apparently there's a United States Government law that says you can only beam so much satalite signal into space through US airspace. o__O So that means we have a 17GB bandwidth limit everyone month. "Bandwidth period", that's browsing, pictures, youtube, and downloads. It sucks balls. T__T Not to mention its like $80 a month, too. o__O"

I remember the first time I got on the internet... It was to play Neopets and then that same week, Runescape. :D

$80?! Are you serious? my connection(earthlink) is usually $30-$45 a month for it, no limits. You need a better connection :/

Agh you should join just for the fun of it! :D

No, I get embarrassed easily.
I thought that was pretty creative...? XD

It wasn't. I normally talk like that.

Its the best in my area. Its either that at 3mbs or dial-up at 42kbs. :(

@ Camisado: I didn't realize you lived in England. I too live in a very rural area, we just don't say "village". XD Sounded... "primitive"? =s

I can't see how people can live in villages. Maybe because I've been brought up with a lot of life going on around, I just can't see myself living in such a non-active and utterly quiet environment. I live in a suburb, which I'm very happy about; it's not too loud or quiet and the area we live around is perfect. I live near enough to my friends and near enough to the big mall for those times where you need to do some shopping.

Yes? What's wrong with living in a village? =( I live in a very rural part of the country.

Villages are sooo old. You should get with the times and live in those giant cities that choke you with emissions D8

Sucks to be you >.>

Villages are boring.. farms are even more boring. Living in a city is living life.

My parents live outside the village, in the real country. I can't stand it.

Fortunately, I go to college in the biggest city in the state (and I'm like 5 states away:P ). Target, Best Buy, and GameStop are 5-10 minutes away. The nearest grocery store is even closer. And Wendy's opened up right on campus. Everything I need is close by and there's always somewhere I can go.

You cant really say that because it is opinion. If someone has been brought up in a village, they will be probably saying the opposite to you because they're used to the village scene and environment. Also, not all villages are boring. Some try very hard to attract tourists with some innovative ideas and, frankly, beautiful hotels. I also love the design of village houses. They look old, but that's what attracts me to them. Something about them just gets my attention all the time.

Anyway, I happen to have a like for farms. I see it as the only job where no evil is actually being cast into this world and it also means free food. It's win win really.

So much hate for villages?

Sure, there's nothing to do here (save for a pub, and village events in the hall), but we're only three miles from the nearest town here. I can see it from my bedroom window. I work there. I can drive and there's good public transport for the most part. I go out with my friends and have a good time all the time. =/

It's so peaceful here. I can go to sleep without listening to traffic, and wake up to a mass of birdsong. My dad has lived in this very house all 61 years of his life. We have a huge garden. And there's a green belt around the village prohibiting further development, full of rabbits, deer, horses, sheep and cows. I come from two farming families, maybe that's why I love it so much.

(Although I can't say our house is beautiful - it's one of six semi-detached yellow brick ex-Council houses built in the 1920s...to be honest, I never look at the outside).

There's only one city I can stand, and its name is Plymouth.

Sucks to be you >.>
Sigh... You have no idea. :(

PS: I don't hate villages. XD I just said they were "primitive", which probably is the worst word I could ever come up with. -__-"
I really think it would be cool to visit a village! :D

Speaking of birdsong reminds me of my friend, Obidience here on PC, who recently moved to the countryside. I was speaking to him and the phone and I asked him how he was doing so far. He replied:

"Every morning, i wake up to the sound of birdsong. I wish I had an AK47 to just wipe them all out. They. Never. Stop. Singing. It really gets on my nerves"

So yeah, birdsong isn't as beautiful as some of you think.. XD
