I like Macs. 3: I just don't like their pricetags. XD;

Mac sucks because the mac guy is a douche-bag. He just dresses like a lay person so the public will think that Mac is better because it fulfills common needs. A genius business plan, if I say so myself.

XDD;

I'm not a Mac fanboy, though. I'm using a Windows right now, and it works well for me. I love the pricetag and its massive compatibility (a side-effect of which is, unfortunately, more malware).

Macs are wierd.
I hate their OS.
Its just too wierd after years of Windows.

Just because you don't like Steve Jobs doesn't mean you can't like Macs. :P

(Wow, this is a weird situation for me, defending Macs. A few of my friends use Macs and I'm usually the one defending Windows. XD)

Scammers/hackers and the like are catching on the suceptability(sp) that is Mac, so it is only a matter of time before they get hit bad. And they don't even have the proper programs to get protection from.

True. If I were to buy a Mac, security wouldn'treally be something that influenced my decision - your first line of defence is your own judgement. :P

lolz. But seriously, it's true. Doing your research before downloading something, or even visiting a site (in that capacity I use Noscript) is important.

I use the task manager's processes tab, to my advantage. If in the case that I find something that isn't supposed to be on the list, I'll find out where it is (thanks to Vista's 'open containing folder' option) and delete it. When I've found stuff with my virus scanner that cannot be readily deleted, I do the same thing. Often times I will just go into safe mode too.

And your own judgement is the easiest defence to break.

I work more on the prevention side of things. NoScript and Siteadvisor to protect me while I'm surfing, Avast to monitor my downloads, and an upload to VirusTotal for one last sweep before I install something. :3 And to this day, I've never had a virus. :D

Unfortunate, but true.

I should have said, 'and yet your own judgement is the easiest defence to break.' Sounds much cooler. :[

Oh, my god! MSN decided to work. :[

Speaking of major sites working, did any of you hear about this hacker who took down the Yahoo! server?
He got 25 years of prison when the server was down for about 30 minutes :P

I've had a few, but nothing that either I or the virus scanner couldn't solve. XD

Nothing debilitating either, pretty much just adware.

I've used my credit card on this computer several times too, without any problems (that would be the ultimate test XD).

And thankfully I haven't received scams or the like...

25 years for a 30 minute hack? What a world we live in.

This is the unfortunate thing about a lot of malware these days. In the beginning, malware was just a joke. Occasionally you'd get a really bad one, like CIH (Chernobyl virus), but most of the time it would serve more as a nuisance. Nowadays, identity theft, bank credentials stealing, and credit card stealing are very real threats. :c
